Default Marketing

I have been looking lately at marketing majors and jobs that require marketing and i have to say it has caught my interest. You can even say its pretty similar to what we do on eb*y. We try to market out product the best way we can do get as much sales as possible. I always liked this part, i always like to make my listings stand out.

Just wondering if any of you have any experience with this. Is it a good time to major in this? Will it be hard to find a job? Is it worth it?

Share anything.

Honestly - everyone and their mother has a marketing degree, and they're all waiters.

Degrees don't get you anywhere these days... unless it's like an applied science, like engineering. Information is everywhere.

Do you see how ebay uses effective marketing to get us to do all the work for them to get them revenue?

Marketing now days is enormous and covers an extremely wide range different opportunities. When I graduated from high school I initially went for sports marketing and by the time I was finished with college there were about 20+ different types of sports marketing compared to the general one type sports marketing when I started. And keep in mind this is for one of thousands of different types of marketing.

Marketing as a secondary is always a helpful concept but primary = not useful.

What are your other options?

Everything evolves around marketing, and I completed my marketing degree in less than a year. I did not get it, because I needed it, but more for the fact that I wanted it, as a small edge over the competition, as like I said before, everything evolves around marketing. But keep in mind what you are going for typically is not where you will end up...

Marketing people usually go into sales.... or some form of it.

If you are tough about it, do law with minor in market or business with minor in market...a major in marketing is not the best effective approach.

So what are the best jobs or careers to go for these days in this type of economy. I feel like deciding at age 20 what you really want to do is kind of hard.

Most people on here are entrepreneurs... or at least that's the impression I get. You can always join the military if you want job security

Law has a lot of potential by the way - does not mean just courtroom shenanigans...
