Default Phone Number Verification Services that work Now

Paypal limited my account this afternoon out of the blue. It was a new account that I just verified this morning. Several hours later they limited the account and required phone number verification. After reading these threads for over an hour without finding a solution, I did a google search and found a solution. Virtual phone numbers are available in any location, either use voicemail or call forwarding to your phone number. 10 day free trial then 6.90 a month or cancel. I gave my cell as a forwarding phone number. Paypal verification worked just fine. I entered the 4 digit code into my cell with no problem and paypal re-activated my account.

The following is an email I sent to the owner of this company. I will post any replies.

Dear Jodi

Thanks for your assistance in getting my account up and running, for some
reason, it was erroring out when I kept trying. I am a member of an online
users group who use ebay and paypal, there are 400-500 active members of the
group and several thousand casual members of the group. Most if not all of
these members have a need for a service like you provide, the virtual phone
number system with the call forwarding and voicemail options works very well
of our needs. We have needs for many area codes and international phone
numbers like you have available. Because our members would have three
different scenarios for your service, I would like to make some suggestions
and comments.

1. Some people can use your system exactly as it is, one or more permanent
virtual phone numbers with call forwarding and voicemail available.

2. On some occasions we need one time use temporary phone numbers utilizing
call forwarding. The phone numbers which would be used for automated
verification systems and would be needed for only 5-10 minutes, after which
they would never be used again. While people can achieve this using the "10
day free trial", it is probably not fair to your company as there would
never be any income received. It is my opinion that if you sold a service
for perhaps 1.00-2.00 in which they could receive a temporary phone number
for 1 hour that members would support you by purchasing it instead of using
the free 10 day trial. People could either pay the nominal 1.00-2.00 fee
via credit card or paypal or have the fee deducted from their deposit
account as you currently have setup. If you didn't want to publicly make
this an option on your public website, perhaps some combination of
keystrokes could be entered to allow us to purchase this from you. I could
make sure that the option is known to all users of our users group.

3. Some members can use one or more monthly accounts where the phone number
on the account can be changed "on the fly". Perhaps an option to change the
phone number on the account and you could charge a nominal fee for this
service.

Please let me know what you think of these ideas.

Regards
Mike

For UK ebayer zymo's method does not work. "If you are expecting this call, press 1..."
I hate this sentence.

Hmmm .. maybe the type of phone you are using. I had to type in a 4 digit code and it worked just fine using my cell phone.

Default Don't write them letters...

it is useless. Not only won't they change to meet your needs, they will think about EBAY more than you.

Tossable Digits recently was lost as a usable source of validation telephone numbers. They got tossed by EBAY and PAYPAL.

So, don't lose new ones by overstating or sending them letters. Just tell folks on the site and they will use them.

OK...question about how long this service (or any number) would be needed - does Ebay automatically verify your phone number right after setting up your account as a seller account? Is it an immediate thing?
And what about PayPal - will they verify from the start or only after being limited?

And do they always do this at first?
I am asking because I never had this done before. The only time I ever verified my number was when my PP was limited.

tossable digits said they quit on their own because people were using stolen credit cards instead of real ones.

Default Tossable digits is done guys...

they caved in. It has nothing to do with stolen cards or anything like that. They would have to get two things. Your card and your license to succeed at ripping you off.

And how many people lose their license and credit card without noticing fairly short order?

Not too many.

Because online, folks need a matching address and often a matching telephone number to use the card.

That isn't easy to do with out something that provides them the information like a license.

And besides, they didn't stop selling their services, they just stopped doing it for this select case, right? So how does that help them deal with phony credit cards?

Default List of working and not working Phone verification

Aspkin, a while back we discussed this and with everything going down more then usual and the new ebay phone verification process started I think we could use a sticky with up to date info for what is and is not working for phone verification for both PP and ebay.
Need to limit the time to like a week just in case something changes and we do not have old data that doesnt work anymore.

Recently working ( worked on xx-xx-xx)

No longer working ( did not work xx-xx-xx )

Yes, that would be great.
I am reading this forum the whole day today and I couldn't find any straight answer - what are confirmed working services for ebay verification?

What phone service do you use to verify paypal or ebay in us? There are so many ways but some don't work. Please don't confuse people just say this one is working for me.
