Who said java was bad? You need it to run A Lot of different programs.

If you're using a proxy it could be bad from what other members are saying, but I doubt it. A lot of people use AOL Proxies and they're fine.

Aspkin, EB/PP may not be doing so now, but we know that the technology is out there (Check IP address. IP check. Find IP address. IP finder. Java IP Test. Static IP address. Hide ip address. Change IP address. Changing IP address. Anonymous IP address.) - So how long until they start using that technology?

Default You cannot disable JAVA in AOL either...

I found this interesting. I looked up how to disable the feature used on the site

Check IP address. IP check. Find IP address. IP finder. Java IP Test. Static IP address. Hide ip address. Change IP address. Changing IP address. Anonymous IP address.

inside Windows Explorer so it wouldn't work. Cool. I tried several times and it just plain didn't work anymore.

Open AOL, which uses the Windows Explorer browser, and did the same thing, and it was working again and I could see the Java Applet start even though I disabled it.

AOL apparently prevents you from turning it off. Whether there is a security reason or a different reason I do not know.

The only way to stop the thing from seeing my IP was uninstalling the Java Runtime.

Paypal does use Java Script by the way. When you go to their site with it turned off it says plainly:

Many features on the PayPal Web site require Javascript and cookies. You can enable both via your browser's preference settings.

I am using AOL 7, and there at least you can disable java script under "settings - preferences" and it passes the java test. But it doesn't necessarily stay. I had java disabled on one account yesterday, and had to re-do it today. But on another AOL 7 account it had stayed off.

Yes, I have gotten that message, but went ahead and used PP without noticing any difference.
