Default does paypal offer protection for outside of ebay sales ? - YES of course.

question,

does paypal have paypal protection for buyers when they purchase an item out of ebay ?

eg... i want to see an item and they want to pay via paypal, will the buyer still be covered under paypal for items ?

the reason im asking is someone wants to pay for something im selling via paypal and they are adamant in wanting to pay via paypal, im afraid of being stung as they may open a dispute and ill get charged a chargeback and my item and funds are gone.

cheers

Not entirely. If a not as described claim is filed, then it will automatically be closed if the transaction was outside of eBay.
If it's an item not received claim, then it will go ahead.

ok great for the headsup, yes this sale has nothing to do with ebay, its an item they want and all correspondence has been done via email so far.

they want to pay via paypal, i just wanna know if you guys have any ideas on what i should do to NOT GET STUNG by the buyer claiming 'significantly not as described' etc...etc.. theres gotta be some smart moves i can make to avoid this....

eg.. i was thinking of getting the person to sign something and fax it back to me as proof of the transaction etc..etc.. but that may be unuseful, any other bright ideas ???

cheers

Send them a paypal invoice and define the transaction in paypal as a cash advance. a non goods sale.

zymo.... what exactly do you mean by that, how would i initiate that ?

also what about if i tell them to send the money and instead of goods, they choose service ? isent that an option when they send money to someone, i think i read that you cant file a dispute for services, only for goods ?

From your paypal account, there is an option at the top called "request money". Fill out the money request and define it as a cash advance rather than a purchase of goods or services.

Well when I purchased an item outside of eBay, the only choice was to file a not received claim. So if they have a tracking number, you are screwed.

Unless you pay out of your CC balance, and file a chargeback.
