Not me Lumberjack - I'm too old for all that stress. I'll stick to knitting patterns, skirting board ladders and cockerel eggs. Not much profit but not much hassle

It's amazing isn't it? Until now I had only heard of them on threads on this forum.

My gaster is well and truly flabbered that there is such demand.

Can see why EB take the view that they do

Lawsuits R Us comes to mind

He bought his stake back from HTC because they no longer wanted it since it did not improve their sales at all and almost became a complete loss. They sold it to him for extremely cheap so it was a no brainer to gain full control of it again.

Just felt like I needed to correct that part because they made it seem like he bought all $300+ million back. I believe they sold it back for less than $100mil.

who said rappers don't know business will it be a fad? who knows. it's the same idea as apple, sell the same product as others for more $ because of a name and perception. bless them but i can not see any company surviving like this forever. yes i am saying apple will not last forever, at least not with this current business model.

WoW....that is an immense figure to rake in a year, let alone several lifetimes.

I wouldn't be surprised if the underground market made 10 times as much as the legitimate channels. The product is too easy to copy and it targets a completely ignorant and naive market.

Like moths, all they see is colors and branding. 99% percent don't have a damn clue about music or sound and no audiophile would ever outright purchase such crap with exorbitant pricing. Luckily for Dre, his position in the entertainment industry has a deep and long history and he has ties to everyone that can sway public opinion.

there were supposedly 2 foo foo types going around. one that if you looked at the packaging had a 'faded' effect to it that would give it away. the second was exact. one or both had different sized boxes as well. it would come down to someone being an audiophile as you said and most would not know the difference. i am a musician and i am not even sure i would know myself but i would also never pay $150 - $400 for headphones

I have a legit pair and accidentally bought a f@ke pair twice. I could easily tell the sound differences. They were terrible. And I'm no audiophile. Maybe I was sold some really bad f@kes but still...

I have good sounding studios. What I mean is, they sound almost exactly like the originals. Why do you think it was so easy to replicate Dr Dre headphones? Because they are **** to begin with!

Many of you are hypocrites when it comes to business. This are not overpriced in any way possible. If they were overprice, then one man (and that doesnt even include the total revenue generated) would not have made 110+ mil on one product line. I do not own a pair, but owning these is a fashion statement, monetary statement, and trend/fad. Maximizing your profit is the smartest possible thing any business can do. I buy plenty of items for quarters each and my profit is 14,000%.

Exactly! It's a fashion statement and they don't sound too bad. Certainly not the best buy good enough. I think Dr Dre took headphones to another level. Seriously. Think about it. Before most if not all headphones had no style whatsoever. They all looked bulky and not very comfortable at times. And look at the new trend of headphones which are all trying to look more stylish than Dr Dre's.

You are crossing two sides of the equation here. Of course business is about maximizing profits. That has nothing to do with a product being overpriced. Overpriced means that, as a normal consumer, I can find an equivalent product for much cheaper in price and perform the exact same.

Unfortunately, once a product crosses over into the fashion world of retail, its resale price no longer has a limit of what's considered affordable. That's where Dre took it. It's no different with Ap.ple or any other exorbitantly overpriced product now. You are no longer just paying for the physical labor or parts the product consists of, you are simply paying what that market deems as acceptable and what the manufacturer knows you are willing to pay to be "different", "trendy" and "exclusive".

It's great for the business, but a massive waste of money for the consumer that is much better spent elsewhere. But, people will continue to be ignorant. I just want to be lucky enough to catch and ride one of those silly brainwashing waves...

I knew they were huge but had no idea.....I always see people with them in airports, they are huge. I honestly chuckle and dont see the point in spending that much money for damn headphones.
