Default Ein >> ssn?

So I linked my EIN yesterday.

This morning I find that Paypal found the last 4 digits of my SSN under SSN.

Now the problem is I had my SSN on my limited account from a while ago.

Does paypal see my full SSN and can they link them together?

Any info will take a load off my back...

Thanks!

So you entered your EIN into PayPal? Did they ask for it? After entering it into PayPal under SSN it shows the last 4 digits ? You sure you only entered your EIN? Now Paypal has both? Just making sure since this sounds weird!

They didn't ask for it, I decided I enter it before they ask. Since I am coming into some big number here soon.

I never entered my SSN.

It just appeared a day after I entered my EIN.

I heard that the IRS can never share SSN with private companies. Just confirm if the EIN matches.

Well, either they linked you to an old account with SSN or they pulled it straight from EIN. My point was that many months ago people starting reporting that EIN was not full proof and that SSN was still required. So, PP got what they wanted, one way or another. I can't explain their methods and no one else here is going to be able to tell you exactly what happened unless there are parts of the story left untold.

How did you find out?

How was this revelation communicated to you?

If it was in writing, post a copy of the info....

Story is 'off'

The last four of you SSN they have on file is for security purposes. You entered the last four when you signed up and thats all they have. If your account is ever compromised, they will ask what is your last four of your SSN to verify it is your account.

there is NO way that they magically got your ss#. you probably entered it at one time and forgot that you did. i don't think you can just enter 4 digits for SS# on paypal, so they know the full # which means that you did enter it at one time

I've never once entered my SSN to Paypal. I linked my EIN but that's it.

Are you sure you know what you are doing?

Re-read your opening post in this thread. You clearly state a comment about your SSN.

they can not get your SSN from your EIN. this is not public information nor is it shared. the whole point of an EIN is to shield your ss# and information

If you have an EIN and have never entered the SSN you are fine. EIN is not just for individuals they are for corporations, partnerships, etc. It does not necessarily represnt an individual in many circumstances.
