Computer / Router Questions
I need to change my WMAC on my router/comptuer (or maybe not, please help)
I have an old desktop that I am going to use for my new account. This computer was at my mom's house who lives 2000 miles away from me. To my knowledge I have NEVER used this computer on Amz, but to be safe, I created a new user accnt on my computer. I tried to do the VM, but I think it is either too old or doesn't have enough memory to run, b/c it keeps giving me problms and doesnt work. I know how to change my MAC addrss, but was worried about the WMAC.
My original wireless setup was an old wireless/modem together unit- so I went and purchased a modem and new router so I can log into the system and change the wmac. (or maybe in this case at least have a diffrnt wmac) I for sure have not logged into Amz with my new modem or new wireless connection.
When I have the new usb connected to my comptuer, I can see that I have a wireless network avlble, but my computer will not connect to it for some reason. (and I have spent HOURS trying to figure this thing out)
My question is, I can hardwire connect from my modem to my router to my desktop and use it that way. If I hardwire into my router via ethernet and THEN change my WMAC, will that actually change it, or do I have to be connected wirelessly to be able to do that? (I can pull up the routers setup when I have it wired that way)
Or is all of this pointless?? I am just trying to not get linked and making sure I do everything right.
I hope I make sense. And I am not sure where to stick this question, so please move if it's in the wrong spot.
