I have that problem in just one bathroom.rest are fine,.

I did not do anything recently as this bathroom is hardly used,.

it is guest one but couple of times when plumber was around for something else I asked him.

he fiddled with a nozzle at bottom of the ladder style radiator and it was ok for a while and then went cold weeks, months later again .

- I would be interested to know the answer too....

Probably the TRV is stuck. Take the head off and make sure the pin moves up and down. If it is stuck, try some "gentle persuasion" with a hammer.

This can be a LOT of things,,First off, did you run the Lines for your new extension directly from some type of distribution Manifold located by your boiler, of did you simply extend an existing line to run through your new additions?

Slapped, I thought about this too but he mentioned he has flow AND return so I don't think it's a distribution problem. Just my thoughts.

I Know, But you can still simply "Tie In" the Return back at the boiler and "Extend" the supply.
Man, I have seen ALL SORTS of crazy Sh^t done by plumbers in my day, ever since I was a Kid .

I even remember watching the 3 Stooges when they tried their hand at Plumbing, and Curly wound up building himself inside some sort of Jail Cell Made out of Pipes,,,

The other thought I had was that the boiler may not have enough btus for the additional radiators. Like you said, way too many things could be the cause...

Dodgy English plumbing?

Likely to be both....

isolating valve jammed & boiler too small for increased load.

That question got asked after hours.

Going rate for plumbers is easily US$150 per hour..... invoice both free loaders

i took a branch from an existing radiator (for the flow) and tapped into the return from the same radiator (which i believe is the correct way)

@ oomps

right ok i last night drained the whole system again (hose from the drain valve onto the garden) and refilled one raidator at a time (by closing the outlet and only allowing water in and not out and bled each as i went along

bled them all a couple of times and had scorching hot rads all apart from the large ladder style radiator which was "warm" in places and colder in others (which indicates air to me)

bled them all again

turned off the heating

turned on this morning and ALL scorching hot

Problem solved FOR NOW

thanks all for your help the cheques are in the post

Ok Then, Now, Assuming that you are getting proper water flow into your new Extension it simply means that your Boiler cannot supply enough hot water, you may want to try tapping in, and returning Directly from your boiler, but the odds favor you needing a larger boiler, to support the added load of your new addition

all I know about plumbing, is whether the plumber looks nice in his jeans and whether I want to squeeze past him...

@oompappa

I would check that the delightful Mini-me has caused no riot in that bath-room.

She might have made a lab in there
