"Bank Account Invalid" yet no adverse effect (yet)?
Recently created a Paypal account (all legit data); confirmed a bank account (uses a business name not matching, but address does) to get Verified. Then I get this email from paypal:
"Dear [last name] [first name],
The two deposits that PayPal sent to your bank account as part of the bank verification process were returned to us for the following reason:
If you feel this rejection is in error, you may also email PayPal Customer Service to verify this bank account by going to: https://www. paypal.com/us/wf/f=act_verifyba"
I'm still Verified, and apparently can still pay with an eCheck. The two deposits were never returned (the withdrawal happened first). I talked to two bank CSRs who said that there was no problem. The link goes to paypal's generic customer service form, which replied with a useless canned response.
Googling has shown opinon that this may actually be a phishing scam. I find it interesting that unlike the other emails I've received from paypal this one has my names reversed and the "reason" is left blank.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what this means? Spoof? Harmless? Harbinger of doom? Thanks to all.
