Default How long does customs take to clear parcels / packages ?

I'm just wondering how long does customs usually take to clear or release parcels / packages sent from overseas?

before anyone asks, no i am not curious because im importing counterfeits, its a matter of curiosity, because some of my parcels clear within 10minutes to an hour, but others can be there for half a day or more?

does it vary depending if its the weekend or what?

regarding OZ Customs, I think it is an 'or what' answer. Since I import using USP Global
Express Guaranteed (from USA), I know I have a 3 business day turn around. Therefore
I ensure the parcel is sent Mon pm and usually have it in hand Thursday pm. Not had any
trouble with longer times. However I know that with Fedex, DHL that the service is much
slower. Problem is nothing is certain. Of course I am not referring to drop shipping.

Amongst the various Customs agencies I have dealt with, I would say that HM Customs(UK) would get my vote. Best Customs agency for not even being on the same planet would Fiji Customs. The Fijian staff graduate and move on to work for ebay. 'stupid'.

Wink

Yes. But they do not offer assistance to the public 24/7. If you do not use or have access to the ICS (Intergrated Cargo System) you have to wait for 'normal' business hours. Import agents who are mainly associated with freight companies have more interaction even after hours. I might tell you about
a missing container of japanese sea scallops one day.

HI: I know that UPS uses a Customs Brokerage firm, I can usually track a package, get it cleared through customs in 1-2 days
