Activity: 0% Longevity: 66% | | Using friend's ebay account
Hi,
this is my first post here, thank you everybody for the great info.
I have new ebay and payal accounts with real info in good standing. Verified all info and sent documents to paypal. The thing is I got category limited after selling just one item in that category (smartphone) and now I have to wait 30 days to be able to sell another phone again.
I talked to a friend who sells a lot on ebay and he offered me his old account. (2003, 100+ feedback).
Is it safe to change the info on his ebay account to match my paypal account and add a different email address to paypal, then link the two?
Or should I start a whole new paypal account and get it verified then link to my friends ebay account?
What is the best thing I can do so I can use his ebay account to sell, and be able to receive payments?
Thank you

| Make your own Accounts, so if or when the account goes down it's your accounts not your friend. Your Welcome.

Using a friends, family, gfs, etc account is the worst idea ever. This goes the same for using their info as well.

Not recommended.
Avoid such a procedure.
Lots to read around the forum to find out why.
In the process of reading you will learn how to make your own accounts & never need a friend.

Thnks for the replies so far, there is a lot to learn.
What exactly can happen? Can you give me an example please. I am not planning to scam anybody or do anything illegal. He doesn't use this account anymore.
What if I leave everything as is, sell my items, have buyers pay to his PayPal account, then just ask him to send the money to me.
Would that be ok?

the entire ebay/paypal system is based on trust/
Where either think something is not OK, accounts get limited & suspended.
In the majority of cases, these are forever. The accounts are killed.
The very thing you propose in your last sentence will alarm paypal. They will be suspicious of why you are doing such silly things.
You said you are doing this to be able to sell in a restricted category. Guess what? ebay do not want you to sell like that. Using this account, linking with emails will end up KILLING both accounts.
Pointless operation. | The Following User Says Thank You to GreenBean For This Useful Post: | |

Ok, so if he just withdraws the money and gives me cash, there is no way for them to know anything suspicious is going on. All they know, he is selling the items and withdrawing his money.

I know your hell bent on using your friends Ebay account so...You can ask your friend to sell your items for you and work it out with him/her. Just make sure you work out the details if for some reason a customer want's their money back etc.

Welcome to the forums. You are getting quite a bit of good advice. You should go stealth and avoid potential wrecking other people's info.
All the best.

Ok, I decided not to use his account, and just try to build my own stealth accounts.
Thanks for the advice.

Good choice zlajac, you will prosper in the long run and if poop hits the roof you at least know they are your own accounts and not someone elses.

Thanks for the advice. | good choice.
Long term you can do fine with this.
What I suggest users do, is make a plan of what they want to do. Do not 'touch' ebay/paypal until everything is in place.
They post the plan on the forum. We help them make any adjustments.
Then, a new account can be made on ebay/paypal. You should find doing that allows you to understand the methods needed.
I'll look forward to reading your ideas.
