Default What is your favorite day to post things, end listings?

What category of items do you sell and what is your favorite way of listing them? Say, what day, time, and duration of auction?

I think for me 7 day, listing on Sunday nights, and at 9 PM EST is good, I sell clothing and shoes.

I always find weekend to be the worst time to end things, so generally I avoid Friday nights, Sat, and Sun. Also business seems to be better around the first half of the month, then it dies down for the 2nd half.

It varies depending on what you sell (don't you get tired of hearing that)? But really, it does. For instance, CPU doesn't end on Mondays or Tuesdays. I've found them profitable. Weekends do ok if you end at the right hour, and again it does depend on what you're selling. If it's something for a mom, don't expect it to do well ending at midnight. That sort of thing. I have found the last point to be accurate, for the most part.

Evenings have always been the best for me. I agree that on weekends the selling price does go down a little.

Question What day does your auctions end?

For the past 4 years, I have always had my auctions end on Sunday afternoon because I read somewhere that, that was the best time to have an auction end...just wondering how much success others have with different days and times?
What working for everyone else?

Sunday sounds alright. I found most action happens on Thursday-Saturday. Maybe people close on Sundays.

Yes I think it does. Also, I always pay attention to what time I’m listing my auctions too. Obviously if I make listings at 2am in the morning, then they’re going to end at 2am in the morning 3, 5, or 7 days later. How many people are going to be awake at 2am, to take part in a bidding war over your item?

Most people go out to work everyday. So maybe it’s a good idea for auctions to end in the evening. hmmm. So that people are at home in front of their computer, and have the time to bid. Another thing I consider is not having my auctions end on a Saturday night. A lot of potential customers will be out for the night. hehe.

It’s worth thinking about, I dunno. I’ve tried a lot of different combinations, because I’m sick of listing items and having ebayers “watch” my items, and then forgetting to bid. It happens a hell of a lot, and it’s very annoying.

I seem to remember hearing on the largest syndicated computer show in the US that late Friday afternoon and Monday evenings were the times when the most people were shopping. I'll see it I can find any reference to that and report back.

Actually it doesn't matter which day your auction ends. Those were the old days of Ebay when you would have to end auction on Sunday. But know with the million of buyers Ebay have I don't think it evens matter anymore.

I tested out the which day to end theory and my sales was always the same no matter which day I end it on. Just becareful of holidays and other events..

I also even end my listings at 2:00am, but since i'm on the east coast it will end at 11:00pm on the west coats which still will get me sales

I still think (at least in my mind) is that the middle of the week is better. I never auction on the weekends (unless to sell closeouts).

In actuality, there is no difference between middle of the week and Friday.
