If I am using dialup - software to let me know phone is ringing?

What software do I need if I am using dialup that allows me to know my phone is ringing? I know there was something out a while back but have forgotten what it is.
I added dialup in my home so I can add another account with it but if our friends at eb or pp call I will most likely be online.
Appreciate any help.

HI: If you are using AOL--the AIM software alerts you to when a call is incoming, But im sure there are more--
ALSO-- you can actually make settings in either your phone or software to allow your phone to ring while on line, and take the call..the Tech Guys will know..

I have modem on hold on my laptop but cannot get it to work. Anyone??

You mean the modem is 'holding' and does not release? Have you turned the modem off completely, then turned it back on?

Not really. Its called Modem on Hold, it is suppose to allow you to take phone calls, it put the modem on hold until you hang up the phone and then goes back to the connection to the net. Already installed on my new laptop.

I would like to kick it but it might kick back, so I will refrain.
