Default Tracking shows Item was Delivered, customer says they didnt get it

I shipped a $200 phone to a customer, USPS shows it was delivered, customer claims they didn't get it and asked for another one to be shipped because it wasn't her fault that it didn't arrive.

What to do? My account health is Fair because of another A-Z I had a couple of months ago, but I want to avoid throwing $200 away. I have no idea if I'm getting scammed here.

Seller is responsible for deliver the item to buyer. With $200 item I will add insurance or signature confirmation. Or send it with FedEx. Also with cell phone I always keep a record of IMEI/MEID/ESN number in case of some thing wrong.

If I was you try to communicate with the buyer to buy some more time and try to find out if buyer really not received the item or tried to scam you.

Contact the USPS and file for a report (I was filed a report online and the local post master call me the next day)

ROST always has funny post j/k

If you do not have signature confirmation you will need some luck to fight the case

I bought the shipping through Amazon, so yes they have the tracking.

So what's the advice from here, should I give her a refund? I don't want to lose my account over this, though I'm unbelievably getting screwed here.

I did read your post Tony, and I appreciate you contributing your opinion. I know eBay requires signature confirmation for items priced above $250, and this was $180 (and on amazon).

The question is, if this person files a A-Z, will I automatically lose?

This just recently happened to me. Sold a $250 item with tracking and signature confirmation. Put the tracking number into Amazon as soon as I got home from the Post Office. 3 Days later, package is confirmed delivered.

The next day, the customer files an A-Z claim saying it was never delivered even though the package was signed for, with THEIR NAME. I opened a case with amazon explaining it was delivered to their address and signed for with their name assuming that it was obvious I was being scammed and Amazon would side with me.

But no, Amazon closed the case and initiated an immediate refund to the buyer.

I would try to fight it but even the most obvious evidence isn't conclusive to Amazon.

I can't ditch the account, they have 5K worth of FBA stuff...

Gosh I think I'll throw up before I voluntarily refund this person the $180.

I never thought Amazon was so bad that even if you provide tracking, the buyer could still just say they didn't get it. I don't see how signature confirmation would've made a difference.

Try to contact the buyer to buy more time and see what happen.
Anyway, what phone is that? CDMA or GSM?

I had something similar for a lower value item, the package was signed for in the buyers name and they emailed to say it hadn't been delivered.

I contacted Amazon before they had chance to open a case against me and explained what was happening and that the package was signed for etc..

Anyway the buyer opened a case and Amazon closed it in my favour within 2 hours. Give Amazon a call about it before the buyer opens a case!
