obviously ebays going to be better profit wise wouldn't it i mean its the worlds number 1 auction site and has been for years.

I suppose the advantage of craigslist would be the fact that you wouldnt have to put up with all the bs ebay puts you through.

Had experience with craiglist in WA state. I found it terrible! A lot of what was being offered for sale was not of good quality and where actually selling, would be buyers wanted to pay the lowest possible price. Another thing that I found annoying was when a buyer was 'meant' to be coming to look at an item but
never turned up or phoned to make alternative arrangements.

Of course I do not know what you are selling but I would hope there would be other options.

Pick big cities to post in like LA, Chicago, NY, Houston where there are big populations. It's an odds game. Ironically when I sell on ebay I get very little sales from New Yorkers so go figure. It might be better just to advertise on craigslist.

I've listed used items on craigslist. I've never had a buyer.

I get lots of scammers who want to send a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ money order and usually using advanced fee scams, too. I tell them I accept credit card, too, but people only want to do money order. When I told them I'm now doing postal money orders only, then suddenly nobody emailed me anymore.

craigslist is really good for bigger items i think. Laptops sell pretty good, so do things like phones.

The scams dont really bother me because they are usually really bad and can be spotted a mile away. What really annoys me is how cheap people are. I have a few MacBook Pros that I wanted to sell that are valued at over $3000 and they wanted to give me offers of like $1500 and crap.

thanks you guys, I'm building my own site as well, it's just ebay's got to the point as to where creating accounts is so much of a hassel. I'm still in the fight though as of now...who knows i might stick around till ebay gets sued.

I tried it and did not like it. Sold a few items. I found that people want flea market - yard sale prices for better items.
Wasnt worth the hassle.

Ebay owns shares in Craigslist. Craigslist is sueing eBay for some kind of conflict of interest because Ebay now has kajiji.(sp?) another classified site.
Anyways, I've heard of people making good money on CL offering services like SEO/web design kind of stuff selling to mid-size corporations.
