Question Pay Pal is asking for tax ID

I finally got the email from Paypal asking me for tax ID or social security number. What do I do I already gave them my social security number on my suspended account.

If I get individual tax ID will they know who I am? And if I do get a tax ID will they allow me time to get it over the limit my account before I get it .

If I just stop using that account will they stop asking me for this info?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was suspended once with a SSN for being a risk seller.

Made a new account and verified with Tax-ID. No linking. 3+ months now.

So Jwizard, You just apply for a EIN & give that to PayPal?

The name on my PayPal account is not mine, it is stealth. What about my other accounts?

Do I get a separate EIN for each? Because I am sure this will happen again.

So you just apply for a tax ID and then give it to Pay Pal? Now what if you have a bunch of accounts like I do will I be able to get more tax Id's?

Because I'm sure this will happen to me again. I have a lot of Pay Pal accounts. Does anybody know how many Ein numbers somebody can have?

The reason I ask is because this is my first time with an ein# and I just want you be sure that going forward I do this right the first time.

I don't want to screw up my chances for an ein in the future in case I can only have 1.

Just trying to find out what I should do now going forward should I save this account? or ditch it & move forward? It is a very good account. I would hate to lose it.

Internal Revenue Service

I don't think there is a limit.

However, PP can still demand your Soc Sec number. If you were limited previously with that SS then you will be linked again.

That's why it's best to have multiple PP accounts.

Too many tax ids and the IRS will be probably be holding a hairspray and lighter under your ass.

Exactly, an individual can have lots of EIN, but the more he has, the more attention he gets from the IRS.

Of course if you own 10 legit companies, then it's okay. But don't open a business or apply for another TaxID for the sake of using Paypal.

Long story short, mess with PP all you want, never mess with the IRS. PP is a grunt compared to the IRS's power.

So what do most of you do? Do you get on an EIN #? Or do you say bye bye to this eBay PayPal account and work on another? I'm confused.

You can only have ONE ein per entity.

OP, you need to speak to a tax professional to get all of this correctly fixed.

Tax requirements were announced in late 2009.

Look thro' the IRS site.
Then look at the yellow pages for your state . Proceed from there.
