im sure this has been answered before . I have one of my pp accounts registered as a business account in a business name. The name on the account is obviously a stealth name..

I created an ein already using the business name and legitimate ss number information.. I haven't provided it to pp yet.. I want to be sure..
it is also registered under my "stealth" address that I use.

Does anyone know what paypal actually confirms regarding the ein.. do they just confirm the business name and address? or do they look at who its registered to..


I am not limited yet.. im just being prompted to provide and I want to prevent that from happening and I am planning on paying taxes on the account as well.. so im not trying to get around paying..

You need to have your actual name or a close variation of it. When PayPal sends the 1099k at the end of the year it has your name not your business name on it as well as the address.

A copy of this is electronically filed with the IRS as well. This is at-least for sole proprietors. I can not tell you anything about LLC or any other forms of incorporation.

You may be able to get around PayPal I think the 1099k variation with different name could become a big problem. Personally if it were me I would advise you make a brand new PayPal account with all the proper info and close out the other one.

It's actually a little different.

You give paypal your info, in whatever name it is.

Paypal give the info to the IRS.

IRS simply say yes or no.
