Exclamation Avoiding scammers, any tips?

Time after time the last months has generated great sales for me wich is awesome, cause i sell badass merch for low prices wich make everbody happy.
But the last two months ive lost around 1000€ (yeah it sucks!) thanks to "friendly" buyers who pays and then 20-35 days later opens a paypal dispute and ofcourse paypal gives them their money back but they DONT ask the buyers to ship my merch back before they close the dispute. So now im hunting down 2 buyers that wont respond on emails. I mean cant i do something??

Checklist:
• I lost my best account thanks to scammers.
• Lost money
• Got bad feedback

There have to be a way to get atleast the merchandise.
Please come with advice

When a buyer opens a dispute in paypal for items not as described, Paypal gives you the option to respond tot he case and tell them to a)Refund Buyer b) Ask buyer to return item & then refund 3) Other

If you respond, you can chose one of the options, if you ignore the case, the case will close and go in the buyers favor.

You cannot ignore the case and then worry about your money after this has happened.
Also, to insure yourself, you should ALWAYS send items with a tracking number so that you are covered as much as you can be in case of charge backs, Or item not received cases etc.
Because you will be asked for a tracking number for this as well. If you don't have tracking, you may as well wave goodbye to the item and money.

I have this same scam pulled on me:

Buyer reported "item not as described"

I pick the option for the buyer to send it back to me and i would refund him/her..

Few days later i get a package with tracking in the mail.. It was a box with a greeting card it it signed "thank you for the free Macbook pro.

Paypal refunded them as soon as the tracking showed that i received the returned package. I call paypal and tell them what happened.. They reply sorry, have a nice day!

Wow a laptop!!
I would have opened a police case for that value.
The way i see it, is if i buyer is going to act like a criminal,
then treat him like one & report him!

I actually did talk to a police officer. He told me mail fraud is a huge problem and should always be reported of course, but that it is VERY unlikely that they will ever get your money back.. especially since I am in Canada and the item was shipped to the US.

I just said forget it and moved on :(

Wow, I'd be so pissed off reading that card. I too had someone scam me of over 2500$ back in 10' purchased 5 phones from me, they wanted a refund, So i had them ship the items back. When i received it, I opened up the shipment and it was a bunch of playboy magazines. Long story short, I even provided a police report and I lost the battle. I don't deal with high prices items on eBay or amazon anymore

Yes, the problem is the scammers have nothing to lose. Even should paypal side with seller so what? Scammer still has merchandice and can keep it , resell it, whatever. Of course seller always loses either way cause scammer will leave bad feedback. If paypal wanted to be fair they would remove any feedback from buyer that lose case. But they dont give a **** about us so they feel to **** on us.

I remember that I watched one video on youtube about the same thing that happen to this man. He called the cops and they arrived. He video taped himself opening the box in front of the cop and inside was just trash. The police wrote it down and reported that buyer which can get the buyer in big trouble. The video is still on youtube, however I forgot the name.

Are you guys selling to aged accounts? Just wondering, for any high ticket items I will cancel the orders if its sent to a forwarding place, unconfirmed address, low feedback, or new account.

i would have said its been damaged in post and returned it and forward tracking number to ebay or paypal.
It works both ways whoever arranges courier has to open the claim with courier.
You get refunded he wont open a claim as hes got it unless he wants to damage it.
Works for me everytime

smart, too bad people can't just be honest anymore

I do love the stories where the seller scams the scammer, they have it comming and its a lesson well earned (not that you're doing this but if anybody has stories )
