Default PayPal randomly stop holding funds

Made a new PayPal last week and processed about 40 transactions so far. Of those 40, funds from 2 transactions were released immediately and the rest of them were subjected to the 21 day hold. So was it a glitch from PayPal that accidentally released my funds or is there some pattern to it?

It is kind of weird how they work. I had a PayPal where I had a Rolling Reserve I don't know if they still use it. But they would automatically hold 10% of everything I received for like 60 days before it was available for withdrawal. Had it for like 3 years. It just got taken away last week.

By any chance, were those two to overseas customers?

Odd this to happen.

But it is paypal and they never do the same thing twice.

Nice for you tough.

Nope, all US customers. Just an update, processed 10 more transactions and one of them was released immediately. So 3/50 total, I guess I'm just lucky. Lol

Ok for anyone's reference, overseas transactions are not subject to holds(to the best of my knowledge, in UK at least)

you are wrong as far as i have experience, UK accounts have holds for overseas transactions too, not that much as the US, but the holds still apply to a few

Are you all experiencing holds on payments earned outside of ebay as well? For example, from your own website or something like bigcartel?

From my personal experience: PP places hold on 1 from about 100-150 overseas transactions.

I had this happen with 20 transactions on a month old account - 14 held 6 released immediately - tried deciphering a pattern but i think pp has an auto system that holds 4-5 of a given sale and releases 1 out of "kindness" if all sales are the same shrug

Usually with the same exact item sold multiple times, shipped fast, and with positive feedbacks.

Ive noticed if old buyers purchase from you they will do that.. I dont mean age old and mean old to paypal itself.

Also has to do with category you sell in

How do you get a 21 day hold off of a 4 month old paypal account. I sell on other sites Not ebay.tracking info for every item made through paypal and no returns or complaints but still that damn hold. I thought it would lift by now. I do not need trickling money I need all my funds.Should i just wait and see if they do it on their own or if I do the confirm identity I feel it will be limited?? any suggestions
