Arrow Is It Over?

Alright well pretty much I was underage when I opened my Paypal account, 2 years ago.

Fast forward to today. I knew it was going to happen eventually. Paypal limited my account because they said I'm not 18 years or older.

Now I have one question. In the email I got it said this:

"This account will remain limited until you turn 18 and have submitted
documentation proving you are 18. "

The thing is, I AM 18+ years of age currently. Is it as simple as me just submitting my Passport to Paypal? Should I expect some sort of backlash?

The thing I'm worried about is when I submit my document that Paypal says "sorry, you weren't 18 at the time of opening your account so your account is closed"
The complete step-by-step guide to get back to selling today!

You might as well submit the requested information as it looks like you have a chance to get your account back. They still may decide to deny your appeal though. One way to find out.

If you havent had violations, you would likely be reinstated. Just remember, if you provide documentation, PP will keep that in their database forever (literally)

Avoid the passport.

Keep in mind what ever documents you supply will stay with paypal for ever.

Be prepared that they may not restore the account. It is not a given. Under age users often get shafted

The thing is I'm not under age anymore. And I don't know if Paypal will hold it against me. Only one way to find out...I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Wow Paypal closed my account and said my "appeal was denied". Really?

What are my options now? I really need to get out of this closing of my account.

You are almost certainly SOL on that account. Go stealth

Wow - one of their 'great' auto-shutdowns. You will need to call up PP and try to discuss it out - get a supervisor - explain you have submitted proof and operate well. Again you may get denied but it is worth it since they have your ID now. Use that too in your argument.

If you start shady you will end up shady is what I would be thinking as a business. I would want no part of it... That is probably in the line of what they are thinking. On top of it they only added the ID to verify you are 18 just to make sure you are blocked for life. You could possibly speak to someone more understanding and change it.

Am I missing something?

How did they find out your age if you created the account two years ago and did not put the correct dob on it back then?

I wasn't doing anything shady. This is my main Paypal account...

I'm going to call them soon.

@ABOVE Edit: I didn't put in the correct DoB back then and the Paypal Debit card screwed me over by asking for some info which they verified. Also I *sort of* wanted this because I didn't feel secure having my account with the wrong date of birth. Now it's just about getting this resolved.

Providing false birthdate is shady! The fact that you dont consider it shady is something to reconsider before calling them.

Seems like they are giving you the opportunity to have a legal legit paypal or they are fishing for info at which point they will perma limit the account.

I agree. Sucking info is how they do things. Lie and lure you into traps.

If they do not have any concrete proof on you then do not give them anything at all.

Save it for later and go all stealth for now.

I heard that if Paypal finds out you're underage they limit your account but re-open it after you turn 18. Is this true?

Also I already have a stealth account so if I get screwed right now I'm going full stealth.

And they already did perma-limit the account

How would they find out you where under 18? Jut curious, this was almost a decade ago but I opened my first PayPal to sell when I was 15 or 16. I know quite a bit has changed but I don't remember PayPal ever asking for a Date of Birth. I know eBay does.

Where on earth are you hearing these pipe dreams?

Remote to no chance of restoration

Their basis is the lie told to join up when under age.

The under age user must be punished by paypal...

Alright thanks for the replies guys. You're right, the call to Paypal only further ensured my doom. I won't be able to open another account. They already have all my personal information so I'm eliminated from the system permanently.

I already have a Stealth Account but I'm not sure how I'm going to pay for the VPS when this account is done for...

Edit: So what happens with my eBay account? It's still good for now from what I can see. Will I be able to still sell items and will it be received by my limited Paypal?

What happens with recurring payments?

Recurring payments are blocked. After a while, your PP will be blocked for GOOD. You can sell items if you find other payment processors like Skrill, Propay, Paymate or whatever is accepted now. Some people have reported success with opening new PP accounts but realize that linking will happen and your money COULD be tied up again

The ebay account may stay active. It depends on how paypal 'feels'. Sometimes paypal tell ebay to take down the account.
Has happened to other users. They have managed to go on selling after paypal was zapped.

You can look at finding other payment processors. But you may have problems because of your age. Not a given though.

Recurring payments are over. paypal is blocked & thus they are too.

Paypal was aware that my documents were stealth.

I wonder if there's any way to get back my account even after that...
