Default before i waste a LOT of time...

today i got hit with an indefinite ban.

i sell vintage clothing, all authentic, but listed an abercrombie & fitch shirt last night, which got pulled

this was my 3rd pull from ebay (although the 1st two never appeared on my dashboard as policy violations)

spoke to CS - they said that getting a certificate of authenticity for the shirt would make them look at my case again

anyone ever heard of indefinite bans being overturned via hard evidence?

any help much appreciated

cheers

Yea it can be overturned I read some cases where it worked and some cases where even after they did prove they still were banned forever. If you got the money and want to take a chance and its worth it then go for it. Cant be so hard to get a certificate. Just make a few calls to the house of authenticity and your good to go. )

why do i care?

because it was 5k+ feedback account, turning over 60k a year

that's surely better to fight for than starting from scratch, eh?

Ebay can do ANYTHING it Pleases with your account, including Reinstating it, It has happened to Many Members here, I among them, If you can provide them with the proof that they seek, for such an account as you described, I can clearly see why you would do whatever possible to recover it,,

If your listing was on ebay.com, you might have a chance.

Catch22 for you at present. I'll explain why.

ebay co uk have issues with abercrombie & finch items. Such items are pulled because usually they are counterfeit. That's has been going on for years.
By all means try to get the item authenticated. Presenting that info to ebay is not a given they will do anything.

Those two violations are a bad mark. How did they appear on your dashboard and how long ago?

From the way ebay works, the fact you got taken down on a third strike usually indicates the other violations are counting against you.

I know this is not what you want to hear. That's how ebay works.

Are you allowed to buy on this account still?

not allowed to buy either - although bizarrely my dashboard says that i'm suspended until 13th October 2013

the violations never appeared on my dashboard, that's the odd thing...i check it daily, and even after a previous (different) one got pulled, nothing appeared on my dsahboard

About usual for ebay co uk.

Sellers have incomplete info regarding the exact status of their account.

You could try to get that certificate and battle with them again.

i think the certificate is the obvious 1st step....but of ALL the companies to try and get one from, it would have to be that poncy bunch Abercrombie...i think i'll be laughed out of the premises!

already planning to send my 75 year old mum in, with a cock & bull story about her grand-daughter selling her dad's old shirts to raise money for her university fees*

thanks for the advice so far chaps - was totally distraught yesterday

* more than an element of truth about that actually!

I would have thought A&F store would only wish to deal with the seller, so whoever goes in should say it is their account but also note that these places very often will NOT give you anything in writing, they do not want to get involved...

what ebay will really want is genuine invoices for the goods that they can follow up, if this is vintage stuff and you pick them up at stalls or small shops, there are ways to provide the info...in future keep all receipts from any bricks and mortar vintage stores, as they are worth alot as evidence ...

Bit of a situation I would say - go for the CoA and then contact eB - it could work. What might work AGAINST you is the 3rd pull - even though the 1st 2 dont show up on your dashboard - the fact that you listed 3 times after getting your auction pulled...eB doesnt like accounts with repeat violations.

You dont have much to lose so might as well go for it. All the best

well...

my dear old 77 year old mum went into the A&F store in london...was treated with the utmost respect (amazingly) but....after 3 people looked at the shirt, they were 90% certain it was indeed a ⊗⊗⊗⊗

"an amazing quality ⊗⊗⊗⊗, the cotton, stitching and buttons are incredible" but wash instructions are not quite right

so that's that then....a blisteringly ace account gone (paypal have suspended the associated account as well, but i'd paid my fees and had about £1.50 left in there, so no massive deal for a 'dead' account

i'm going to lick my wounds for a week or two, and then...well...'i'll be back'

thanks for all your interest btw

Keywords indefinite ban chances are not good and 50 million feedback does not mean anything to anyone including ebay and buyers, I absolutely see very very small differences in sales price from accounts I have with one feedback to accounts with 500. I know people like to see that star and super stud macho seller but it really dont mean much in real dollars. create another account and move on

@billymac, hope you can save it - a bit of longshot but still doable.

if the whole point of taking it in was to get something in writing to save your account then I think you have missed the point, no offence but you are supposed to bring a real one in to the store to get something in writing (which you almost certainly would not get in any case)...you must have been very sure it was a real one to have taken it in, but really to be sure, one would go ahead and buy a real one and take it in for them to inspect....

anyway like a said, a waste of time doing it this way round, in future, if in doubt about designer items being questioned, be prepared with legit receipts, in advance even if it means buying some just for the receipts. receipts or supplier invoices are the key....

and btw I am not talking about if you sell f akes, you can be selling real ones but if you do not have receipts then you can lose an acc...

i genuinely thought it was real...i do really know my designer gear, and i'm telling you that the shirt was unbelievable for a f-ake...

it's a hazard of my trade i guess...i pick up 95% of my stock from charity shops and boot-fairs, but i genuinely don't sell ⊗⊗⊗⊗...i'm good at spotting them, and it's not worth the hassle

I'm very impressed that you did 60K in sales pushing out clothing. Was 60K profit, or gross.

LOL

There is a seller in Cleveland, Ohio who sells used clothing only and when I checked him out his sales were over 100k per year.

Only sells used clothing, nothing else.

Right now he has 684 pcs of used clothing listed and almost everything is green as he ends most of his auctions on Sunday night.

Amazing to me that used clothing would sell in these numbers.

Yeah, certainly interesting. I assume he is listing each item separately since no two clothes are alike. I currently have 500 hats and 700 gloves all brand new with sticker sitting which I don't even know how to sell.

Taking roughly 1500 pictures, and posting them individually would be interesting. Not to mention, running into "Multiple Ads" given the number of items I have that are all hats and gloves.

So certainly I might make a mistake of having two titles the same leading into some sort of duplication MC999 complication.

More so, do I do auctions, or do I do BUY IT NOW for each piece.

If it were me and I had a large lot of one item like you have and if I purchased them at a good price, I would sell in lots of say 5, 10 etc.

Picture all 5, list in correct category and also in wholesale lots giving you more exposure etc.

I always take multiple pictures of everything I have for sale, old or new items. I have different color backgrounds to flip over and take pictures for other ebay accounts.
