Default Ebay says mb/skrill will no longer be accepted

I just got an email from ebay stating that I must set up a payment gateway with merchant account for my ebay account by the end of business day 4/25 or my account would be restricted.
I called and of course the 1st 2 CSRs were no help and I finally was able to get out of the 3rd one that skrill will not be accepted sometime in the near future. I pushed further saying that I should not be forced to accept another payment method when skrill was still listed as an accepted payment method.
Basically they told me that they can disallow my usage of whatever payment method they want whenever they want. Also, that I can still use paypal or propay (great). I said I had bad experiences with paypal and propay was more expensive, they said too bad.
Just a heads up...not sure if what they are saying is true since I don't see any indication that skrill will no longer be accepted, nor if other sellers are receiving the same message.

Absolutely nothing for me.

Will not be impressed if this is the case.

It's an older account (USA) chugging along without paypal.

E-mailed Skrill recently to find out about setting new account - still usable on eB with eB renewal token so ...your source seems off OP

This is actually within their rights.

They could make you use alternative methods.

It can be on an account by account determination. That said, not heard of any sellers in the past 13 months who got told to change payment processors.

looks like obama admin tightening the American financial sector payments.

Also But a quietly passed legislation just passed has wording BUT not actually mentioning the "BitCoin" and they are looking to regulate it like western Union ect

We never read the Terms when signing up for EB PP ??? they can do what they want when they want only to you and no one else without explanation

EB is only a brand that has a volume of buyers unmatched by other Auction sites, but its days are numbered.

Look at Apple its getting trodden on by Samsung :-)

Only time for EB, Oh and PP

Only silly people do not read such terms.

If it's our own money, we need to research carefully what to do.

For the past 10 years of using both ebay/paypal I have copies of all of their policies.
Trust t me it is needed.

Why?

They are not to be trusted ever. If they think they can get away with something, they will try.

ebay can look at individual accounts and decide what to allow the seller to use as payment processor.

They 'determine' what is allowed. Usually this happens if the account is being look at by their accounts specialists.
Has not been my experience that first level ebay staff would enforce this.
They might threaten but rarely enforce.

Hope that helps, cjw7
