Default Google Checkout will Retire the game.

An update to Google Checkout
Hello,

A key focus of Google Wallet is to simplify and improve the commerce experience for merchants and shoppers. Just last week, we announced two enhancements to the Google Wallet platform. The Instant Buy API enables merchants to offer a fast buying experience to Google Wallet shoppers on their Android apps and websites, while processing their own payments. In addition, the new Wallet Objects API enables merchants to engage their customers with loyalty, offers, and more.

As we continue to build the Wallet platform, we must focus our priorities. That is why we are announcing today that we will retire Google Checkout. We remain heavily invested in building a platform that enables merchants to meet the demands of a multi-screen world where consumers shop in-store, at their desk and on their mobile devices.
I sell goods or services using Google Checkout. What does this mean for me?
Merchants can continue to accept payments using Google Checkout until November 20, 2013. We have partnered with a few best-in-class companies to provide you with discounted migration options, so you can continue to run your business with as little disruption as possible.
Braintree
provides everything merchants need to accept payments, and powers many of the fastest-growing online and mobile businesses around the world.
Shopify
offers a fully hosted online shopping cart so you can quickly and easily accept payments with top payment providers.
FreshBooks
is an easy to use online invoicing solution.

- Google checkout is retiring the game. Just to let you guys know.

One good thing is that their migration partners MIGHT loosen their credit standards somewhat if you have a good history with Google Checkout. When I switched payment processors, the new one didn't even run my credit report. They qualified me based on my sales history.

@jeffweico

Valid point. Always advantages to have a sound working relationship with a payment processor and a bank, for that matter.

The simple, basic fact is this is business.

Not games for children.

Sad to see them retire the email invoicing for physical goods part of their setup. 4 years using that with not one single problem... no questions from risk management. They recommend switching to Freshbooks... anyone signed up yet? Any transition issues?

Yes, even your local branch, like any relationship, it takes time and work to built trust and mutual understanding with a bank. I've even invited her after work for drinks with friends, when I had something big happening, I know every clerk and rep., I usually always know their birthday and present them with gifts.

one way I built my credit was with my bank by opening repeating secured deposit (CD) to pay back, and repeated this, and this with good credit and banking years of deposits with the same bank, specially when I needed refi my current rate, they agreed to adjust the rate without a drop of doubt,

By partners, do you mean affiliated/recommended services by GC like FreshBook, or did you sign up for Google Wallet instant Buy. Are you saying, you are already using your payment processor with GW instant Buy, a bit confused because I saw the application but now it has disappear, just shows the regular sign in button.

I just recently saw the video of this new product, and is mainly for Mobile, Website and in store integration. Nice going Google, loosen out the invoice setting. Whats this a major risk problem, as far as goes fraud, which is perhaps why they discontinued altogether and Google Checkout as whole product?

Which google checkout alternative that they recommend is better - freshbooks or braintree. I see that google checkout is closing on Nov 20th - and I was unsure of which replacement is the one to go with.

I have a website and sell on it...I used Google Checkout and liked it...to bad they are closing it...I dont feel like paying a monthly fee, for an online processor, etc...

I saw that wepay had some negative reviews...but after doing a test purchase on my website, seeing how long it took to get the money into my account...I think I am going to make the switch soon to them...They are just as strict as paypal, google on their requirements....but it seems to work for me

I did write a small review of my experience we Wepay...

http://www.aspkin.com/forums/multipl...ay-review.html

I just realized I put it in the wrong section...I was shooting for the merchant accounts section...I have no idea how it got there...must have been drinking early that day...
