You're lucky they didn't empty the account with it! I'm guessing it was one of the clerks who used it. Must be tempting to make only a little bit of money and get dozens of free credit card numbers to buy lingerie for his wife.

Unhappy They got me - someone stole and used my PayPal debit card number

That's rubbish Pay Pal saying it never happens! A couple years back, my Pay Pal debit card number was used overseas several times and not all at once. I called and let them know the charges were not mine and they did eventually drop off, but it took about 3-5 business days. For awhile there it was happening once a month. Messed me up pretty good with my business since this account was used for filling my orders, and I had to cancel the card each time, and then to wait for a replacement.

I lost about 200 bucks from a fraudulent website as well. They took my card when I ordered, it was a shady looking site, and gave me an error when checking out. I didn't think anything of it. Two months pass I see two charges of about 100 each. I think crap, this guy had my card and could have taken everything from my account which at the time had thousands in it and thousands more added to it every day. I called my Paypal manager, they cancelled my card and that was it. Now I only trust brand name sites and even with that I use a Visa credit card when checking out only.

thats really bad, someones obviously committing fraud ( not you, maybe the store clerk as said !), but at least it wasn't a larger amount. Now unfortunately you'll have to deal with paypal to sort the mess out

Sorry to hear that modee. I have a question. What if someone took one of our accounts that really isnt in our name "⊗⊗⊗⊗" empties it out and goes into negative or leaves a balance of zero. If it does go into negative what would be the best course of action? Close the bank account? Make them not allow pp to withdraw funds at all? Just so you wont lose money in case it happens.

If you used your cc on a website then the website owner can have a copy of the details (which they could sell on) or someone could attack the script of the shopping cart of the website if it isnt secure enough. Maybe that is how your cc details were used, best way to pay for anything online is using a vcc and top it up with a real cc.
