Default Sites that will give you free good links (dofollow)

There is only so much you can get from on-page seo, if you want to rank, you must have links. Since Google put out the rel=nofollow it is getting tougher to find good sites where you can inject a link.

The purpose of this thread for us to help each other find sites that offer good links.

I will start with 3 sites.

PR7 Webshots - Photo Sharing, Free Wallpaper and Free Screensavers This is a free photo sharing site, load a pic and then put in a comment with your link. Comments from the picture owner are allowed good links. Other comments are rel=noFollow. Note: flickr. et al, have rel=nofollow and links from the comments will get your account closed

PR 4 twemes.com This is a site that works with twitter, twitter links are rel=nofollow, but if you add a #example to your tweet and a --http://www.example.com--, that tweet will show up on twemes with a good do follow link. search posts on twemes by #example and just submit the page where your link shows

PR 6 Quantcast - Open Internet Ratings Service
--- Go here and input the url you want in the box and click, the results page will give a good do follow link, copy the url and submit it to the Search engines, see previous post on Search Submission URLs

-- note this technique, "Input stuffing" can be used on a ton of high PR sites, it's black hat though and if done too much it can result in a penalty. But if you inject a few here there you are okay.

You should know that links are the MOST important aspect of SEO, I have pages on my site with a few good external links, outranking wikipedia pages on the same keyword. Good links are the key to ranking.

My advice avoid big link schemes like textlinkads, php link schemes, etc.. and reciprocal links (although a few relevant reciprocal links are okay) Google is wise to those tricks and using them could get you banned.

Find your own link dumps.

Please share a site two, to help out the community here.

If you are listing on other auction sites, your listings pages on these sites can also be a good link source. (although it against TOS, so what?) Some of the free sites will keep your listing up for 6 months and they usually have decent PR (page rank)

Welcome To PlunderHere.com ~ Online Auction MarketPlace & Free eStores!

ioffer, ebid, etc.. all good links, - except ecrater which does not allow html

Also keep Squidoo.com and Hubpages.com in mind.

Other overlooked sources links of links are foreign search engines, they are usually very high PR

for example this site PR 7, gives links, but they are no good.

However there are a bunch of other foreign and meta search engines that give good links.

Example search your url + your keywords, on the results page you will find a link with your page title (keyword stuffed of course) and the anchor text.
= Golden high PR site outbound link, a few of those and you will own the serps.

Search : aspkin.com + ebay suspension

aspkin forums ebay suspension - t-online.de Suche

to see if the links from any source are good

1st check the robots.txt file

http://suche.t-online.de/robots.txt

if it says disallow the folder your link is from, your link is no good.

2nd check the page source code, find the link tag <a href="">example</a>

-- see if there is a rel=nofollow insert in the tag, if not, the link is good.

from the above example -----<a target="_blank" href="http://www.aspkin.com/forums/ebay-suspensions/1-welcome-aspkin-forums-contribute-contribute.html" id="tscc.www.1.title" class="tsc_result_title">---- good link

--------- Also check the source code page header for the meta tags, look to see if there is a meta = no index, no follow tag in the header. If there is the link is no good because it will not get spidered by the Search engines,

example - <meta name="robots" content="noindex,nofollow" />

Sorry I spoke too soon on the above page, it is restricted in the page source header meta tags. I missed that. apologies

okay, I found a high PR search engine that gives good links

Hungary search engine (ezilon) PR 6

search: aspkin forums + ebay suspension

Ezilon.com - Europe Web Directory and Internet Search Engine

1 -- robots.txt ---- good
http://www.ezilon.com/robots.txt

2 -- meta tags in source header, no meta tag restriction -- good

actual page header source code---- <head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
<meta name="GENERATOR" content="Microsoft FrontPage 4.0">
<meta name="ProgId" content="FrontPage.Editor.Document">
<META NAME="description" content="Ezilon.com - Europe Web Directory and Internet Search Engine">
<META NAME="keywords" content="Ezilon.com - Europe Web Directory and Internet Search Engine">
<title>Ezilon.com - Europe Web Directory and Internet Search Engine</title>
</head>

3 -- link in source code ---- good

from source code
------<A HREF="http://www.aspkin.com/">Aspkin's World - EBay Suspensions &amp; Paypal Limited Discu...</A>-----

Now to get that link to count for your site all you need to do is submit that page to major search engines, ( see previous post where I list the urls)
or put a link to that page on a page that you know ill get spidered.

and voila! on the next go round your site will move up in SERPS

It is a tag that Google mandated be put into forums and paid links to help them with identifying people trying to game the search results.

If a link has a rel=nofollow tag in it, the Google spider will not count the link for the site it connects to. Meaning that site gets no search engine results page help from that link.

It's a bloody pain Facebook is nofollow. I've just found a PR8 forum, that is not busy AT ALL, and I posted on 3 threads, one PR6, and 2 PR5. Added links to my sig before hand, no one suspected I was a spammer :D

It's always fun finding good PR links.

However, just remember, Pagerank is NOT the most important thing in the world.

mantis, care to share the url? no biggie if you don't.

If anyone has tips, please share, the traffic to this forum is about ebay suspension not seo, so there isn't much chance of ruining a good thing. I doubt most users get past the ebay and paypal threads.

If you update a page on your site or if you want a page in which you have injected a link to be spidered right away, one other option beside the URL submit, see previous post, is a ping service. That will get you spidered quick.

try this one, it's free

Ping-o-Matic!

The_cynic, I would... but really don't want it to end up being known for spam, like the adobe forums.

However if I come across another which I haven't used, I'l let you know :D

First, a new high PR website that will give you good links.

LinkedIn: Relationships Matter - PR8-- if you get an account (Free) your profile page will allow 3 good links.

---- Now, a way to use this site to get on the 1st page of Google. I recently searched Google for "Buy Viagra" -that phrase is one of THE most competitive on the entire internet. To rank in Google for that phrase you will literally need many THOUSANDS of links.

When I checked I found on page 2 (rank 16) for this phrase, one of the most competitive on the net, a profile page from -linkedin.com-. I did research on that -linkedin- profile page and it had only 100 inbound links, versus the other sites which had to have THOUSANDS of links to get on that page.

The links to that -linkedin- page were really crappy too, (mostly forum comments where a link was injected).

So, the lesson. If you want to rank on the first SERP of Google for almost any term, use a profile page from LinkedIn or another high PR, trusted site as a proxy to drive traffic to your site.

It is a thousand times easier to get a page from LinkedIn or Webshots to the top of the SERPS on Google than it is to get a page from an unknown site.

So set up a -LinkedIn- or webshots page with links to your site, then use the above referenced sites that give good links to link to that --Linkedin- or other High PR trusted site, wait a few months and Viola! you should now have one of top spots for your keyword.

I am trying this for my sites and I will let you know how it goes.

I noticed something about sites saved with Google bookmarks a couple of weeks ago.

----On the old firefox my vista system would freeze up and crash a lot and this caused me to lose my bookmarks. To get around having reload my bookmarks from a file in to firefox. I tried Delicious and reddit and a few social bookmarking sites, but they didn't cut it. So I downloaded the google toolbar and saved my bookmarks on that. You can access your bookmarks from any computer plus from explorer, if you use both Firefox and explorer.

Now, I saved the page from one of my websites on my google toolbar in a folder with a unusual funny name. A couple of weeks ago on a lark, I searched Google for that funny name. Now, guess what showed up in that search?, #1 position

That's right, the page from my website that I saved in that Google bookmarks folder with the funny name. On the page there is no reference whatsoever to the funny name, that page has nothing to do with the funny name. The only reference is in the Google bookmarks folder.

----------Googles uses Bookmarks data to help in their rankings---------

So the lesson, Get the Google toolbar and start saving the pages you want to rank for keywords in folders named for that keyword.

Now to be fair, that was an odd phrase with only 150,000 reference returned in the results, so it was not that competitive at all. However, Google is giving pages saved this way a leg up, so why not use it?

I have also heard that they use del.icio.us data, so get your important pages saved there too with the right keywords, of course.

This thread might actually help me out pretty soon... I'm in the process of backlinking a ton of my sites. The more high ranking backlinks the better. Thanks Cynic.

I just downloaded the free software comment kahuna. It finds relevant places to inject a comment and get good links. I am testing it over the next week or so and I will report back.

Comment Kahuna | Free Link Building Software

I am also looking into some clean 3way link exchanges.

If anyone has a website that deals concerts, music, or posters, I can get you some links if you want to do a 3 way. I have a PR 4 and a PR3 plus about 10 other sites under my control.
