Amazon tax identity information Required??

Hi, I'm from UK and amazon are asking for my tax identity information. I thought this was only for USA customers.

Also I have only sold 53 items which come to about £2000 . Why do they want this so soon??

I know that here in the US, Amazon's policy is to get this information from any seller who sells more than 50 items. I also was under the impression this was only required in the US. Maybe someone else from the UK will chime in.

Someone here recently had the same or simular problem in that AZ though his account was a US one than a UK. Might be unrelated but a good starting point. Check all of your account details under buyer and seller account and check all is correctly configured.

Tax in the UK is very different, we have no tax details needed to provide. The only thing that comes in where a business has to declare to someone like ebay and Amazon is VAT when we become VAT registered but theres a 70k a year threshold to meet for that.
