Default Blocking Buyers

Would anyone know what message comes up for a buyer that you've blocked from bidding/buying?

I want to know whether there is an eBay message sent/notifying them that you've blocked them?

Or does it simply not let them bid/buy from you and if they complain to eBay what is eBay likely to do to you as a seller?

Forgot the message but it will tell the buyer that they are indeed blocked.

There is really nothing that ebay will do to the seller.

In my experience, eBay does not notify them that they are blocked unless they try to bid on an item you are selling, or try to use Buy It Now on one of your items. If they do, then a message comes up saying that the seller has blocked them from being able to bid on the item (or buy it, if that is the case) and that they should contact the seller for any further information and that it is not eBay's decision.

I always block buyers who leave negative feedback UNLESS it is deserved. If I screwed up an order and the buyer leaves a negative, so be it - I won't block that person. If I am not sure if it was my fault or not (i.e. buyer claims damaged and I know the item left in good shape, but may have been damaged in transit) then I look to see if they leave a lot of negatives for sellers - if they do, I block them, if not I give them the benefit of the doubt.

It is one of my fantasies that a service will pop up allowing sellers to share information on "bad buyers" so that they can be blocked before they do damage. Unfortunately, I see no way for such a service to NOT be abused - some sellers DO deserve negative feedback. But when I have received an undeserved negative, I usually look up the feedback the buyer left for others. Nine times out of ten, the buyer has left bad feedback for MANY sellers, not just me. It is unbelievable that some buyers seem to have problems with 25%+ of the sellers they deal with.

If YOU bought 10 things from 10 different eBay sellers and had problems with 4 of those orders, WHY would you continue to buy on eBay?

Unfortunately you cannot protect 100% yourselves against some numnut buyers. I've a stalker on my hands so I'm blocking that person from all my accounts. This buyer has also unreasonably left negatives for sellers (i.e. one seller had 100% feedback for 10 years). I've contacted the sellers about this particular buyer. But there's not much else we can do but to block them.

These are the type of sellers that buy something for 99p and expect it delivered the same day by helicopter with complimentary champagne and truffles.

The one thing that I miss about being able to leave negative feedback for buyers is the fact that these types of buyers are hard to spot until its too late.

If I have an item selling for a lot (Above £300) I will always check the feedback history of the top 2 bidders to see if they have a history of leaving lots of negs. If they do, their bid is removed and they are blocked. This method has served me well in the past, but is not bullet proof.

eB does not notify them directly - if they try to bid and they are blocked, they will not be permitted to bid or win. They cant complain to eB - that is the seller's choice on blocking

I LMAO when I read this.

Dead on correct, many expect items purchased and paid for a 4:55pm to be packed and taken to the PO before 5:00pm.

I hate the new buyer with 0 feedback I immediately block them if I catch them bid early I put them immediately on the list, I think it works if u put them on the list just say after the first bid and than they get out bid and when they come over and bid again I'm pretty sure they are blocked cause everyone I caught like this never won th bid .

0 feedback buyers scare me I think they are competitors or scammers, I had one new buyer 0 feedback win an item yesterday and message me sorry no money can't buy the item . I always just put them in block list and put a request for canceling the transaction

I block certain buyers but found out when one of them told me you can block me from this account so I will still buy from my sons, my wife etc etc.

So some of these people know the way around blocking.

Or expect the seller to be awake when you are clearly in a different time zone. They send repeated bleating messages of demand.

Bless the BLOCK

For bigger ticket items that on sale for my accounts, I always monitor the end of the auction to make sure no weird buyers are trying to snag a win. Little items, I care less about but 0 feedback winners on my big stuff will not occur under my watch without prior contact.
