Default name, address, and SSN question

Hello,
I had a few questions for setting up a legitimate account for my mom before proceeding:

1. I am using her real first and last name, but other family members with the same last name have been banned. Will this matter if I use a different address (mine), than those other banned family members used?

2. I am going to use my address which is clean for ebay/paypal.. Does she need to be registered at the post office at my address for when it comes time to submit SSN?

I hope this isn't too confusing. Thanks!

1. If she is using a different address AND a different PC and internet connection AND no banned family members use her PC/Internet, she should be OK.

2. The SSN verification process used for IRS purposes simply provides a MATCH or NO MATCH based on the name. Addresses are not verified or given out by the IRS. When entering the information, make sure the name is EXACTLY the same as what is on file with the IRS (typically the same as is on your social security card). Nicknames and name variations will not work. So, JOHNATHAN SMITH is not the same as JOHN SMITH.

Edited to add: Accounts COULD be linked if she will be selling the same things the banned accounts were selling.

That pretty much answers my question. Everything will be completely different and unique. I was more less worried about the SSN part for selling in the long run and making the account steady

I agree if this is a legit account you should be fine. However, I would try to start it up and sell for a while and wait for the request. At-least that way you have a while to know if they have tried to link you.

If you are really worried about the SSN for you mother being denied/limited over something she can always register for an EIN even if there are no employees. It is pretty straight forward PayPal accepts it and there is less scrutiny. That is assuming you are registered with your state for Sales Tax collection and local business license, etc.

If it is not a business, then she will need to talk to an CPA or tax professional. I would advise anyway. By your question I am assuming you think she will meet the 200/20k IRS threshold for a 1099k.

So address is not a big deal when submitting SSN to Paypal, just as long as the name and age are correct?

Would really suggest you avoid using your mom`s info - easy to set up stealth account on a made up name.

If you sell under the radar and not too quickly, it IS possible to avoid SSN request altogether.

rsot is right in that it may pay to keep your mom's SSN private. It is easy enough to use an EIN instead. I would only use my SSN if it were absolutely necessary.

In the case of an EIN, the verification is of the business name instead of the individual name. The name to use for verification would be exactly the same as the one you used to obtain the EIN.

This account is for my mom. I just wanted to know if address is a big deal for SSN submit, and if last name would raise a red flag due to other family.

I already have my own stealth accounts, but I can't find a step by step on how to correctly fill out an EIN form for a Sole Proprietor. If anyone would PM me with a how-to I would really appreciate it. I think I have the form/interview correct but not 100% sure.
