Default Account limited told to make new account

Basically got limited as went over the annual amount which was fine, however because they realised I was under 18 (I am since 18) when I registered they said this account would in time be closed and that I should make a new account. The good part for me was that they said if any funds in the account that I could withdraw but a month on from this I still can't withdraw as the account remains limited. Am I meant to do something to allow this withdrawal to happen? I have a new account which is fine just I have £30 sitting in this PayPal account which I would like to withdraw as they said I could!

Here is the email I got:

"In order to protect all PayPal customers and the quality of our service, we
take violations of our User Agreement very seriously. After further review
of your faxed documents, we have determined that you were not 18 years old
when opening your PayPal account and would like to begin parting ways in a
manner that is least disruptive to your business.

Please be advised that you can open a new PayPal account re-signing the
User Agreement as an adult.

If your PayPal account balance is zero, and you have no outstanding issues
such as unresolved Buyer Complaints or chargebacks, your account will
remain limited.

If there are funds in your account, you may withdraw the funds from your
account.

If there are outstanding Buyer Complaints or chargebacks, and you choose
to refund your customers, please log into your account and respond to each
Buyer Complaint or chargeback in order to resolve each issue.

To view the status of a transaction dispute:
1. Go to the PayPal website and log in to your account.
2. Click Resolution Centre on your Account Overview page.
3. In the drop down box on the Transaction Disputes page, select "Open
Cases"
4. Click the "Details" link of the transaction in question to view the
status

PayPal reserves the right to close any account reported to be involved in
possible high-risk behaviour.

We regret any inconvenience this may cause."

Also I should add everything apart from the date of birth was legit and they asked to see my identification which I sent them. So the only problem they have was that the account was made when I was under 18

Any help would be great!

Welcome to the forums.

Usually for an account that has been limited, you would have to wait 180 days before withdrawal - I still think that in spite of them saying you could withdraw, you might be forced to wait 180 days.

As for trying to appeal this, it seems like PP is still pretty deadset on this - I kind of doubt you would be successful in reinstatement. Kind of forced to go stealth for new accounts - it is a good way to go ahead.

You may try to call them up and try a chat session - perhaps it might help.

All the best.

Yeah think I will give them a call as email doesn't seem to work..

If they say no then I don't mind waiting but it will be a bit weird considering the email said I could and seeing as I've now made a new account with no problems.

PP can be quite idiotic and tough to understand with their decisions time and time again - proven by many MANY experiences.

Just call you'll be fine especially if they told you to make a new account.

Agree with the calling in - about making a new account, even if PP says "make a new account" (which I dont see from your thread - perhaps I misunderstood)...don't make it in the same details - LINK will be established and your account COULD be affected

Hi jisoo12,

I know this thread is old, but I've had the same issue. I'm 24 now, yet Paypal has permanently limited my account because I was under 18 when I set it up.

They also told me that I should set-up a new Paypal account and sign the user agreement as an adult.

I'm just wondering whether you encountered any further problems down the line in relation to them associating your new account with the permanently limited one?

Also did they eventually close your limited account?

Thank you.

.
The user who made the first post has not been involved on the forum since 2013.

We never got an update.

However, just this year, another user had issues with paypal UK because of being underage.

http://www.aspkin.com/forums/uk-ebay...permanent.html

above thread gives the background and lies told by paypal.

Within 6 months his new account was limited again.

paypal have form for doing this. They infer you can start over as an adult.
Never usual for them to allow a new account to have a long life.

Your preferable option is stealth.

Good Luck and Welcome.
