Those first 50 pages of the book spoke of making/creating a test install on your own home computer. Some users do that to test their store before going live.

Most hosts nowadays have an automatic install of zencart and/or other cart systems. You click one button and the whole 9 yards is installed in 3 seconds on your host.

The next 350 pages details the ins and outs of zencart. The real nitty gritty of tweaking it to suit your needs.

You can compare creating a website to changing your own brakepads. Most folks are happy to give up a healthy chunk of change because they think it's complicated. Then on the other hand there are those that change their own pads and save the labor charges of $100-$150 or so.

As suggested above if it is too complicated or sounds too complicated then pay a bright young programmer a couple hundred dollars from elance or rent a coder and he/she will create a brand new spiffy website for you that is pretty much turnkey except for adding any new products. If needed you could even email them the new products and for a price decided in advance they will add them to your website on a month by month basis.

Believe it or not you can hire an overseas programmer for $10 an hour that will deliver you a premade ready to go ecommerce ready website that will blow you away. Your only effort will be to pay him upon completion of the job. All you need to do is point out to the programmer other websites that you like and would like yours to look like and they will take it from there. They have been in the biz a long time and know how to whip them up quickly.

The question is do you want to invest the time to learn to do it yourself or do you want to pay someone else to have it done.
