Default Bank account question too dangerous

Okay, I opened a new savings account to use but it is under my suspended checking account. It is a new account number but has the same routing number. Am I being paranoid? Should I just open a whole new account with someone else?

New account number is fine cashisking as long as bank is stealth friendly - no problems...routing number is used by many

A routing number only identifies the bank, not the account holder. Everyone at your bank (at least at the branch, more likely in your state or region) has the same routing number.

I personally wouldn't be worried. It is quite common. However, lots of times especially major banks. They Routing Number will reference the region of the country in which the bank account was at-least opened. Sometimes this is do to large banks acquiring smaller or other ones. Not 100% sure. I wouldn't worry much about it I have never heard about any problems with that. However, myself always being extra cautious I would set up my account to be within that same region if you can find it out.

Just throwing it out as something extra to think about. Like if you register an account in Florida and you find out your routing number is suppose to be in Southern California or Texas. You might want to find out that info before hand just to be safe. Or be ready for some kind of excuse if for some reason you ever are asked about it.
