Default Receiving money through "gift"

Anyone run into issues with this?

I have someone who sells my stuff on consignment. He gets money and pays the 3% then sends me my share. Seems unreasonable to double charge on the same money?

Yes, if you receive enough money through gift payments, they will flag your account and put a hold on the payment. They will contact you through email and request information on the payments to see if it's really a gift and they will threaten to not allow you to receive anymore gift payments for abusing the system.

It's happened to me, so I no longer accept gift payments on certain accounts.

So you dropship for him right? Double charge...very bad business...negotiate your terms and stick with it if you want good business.

You can really negotiate terms when you when sell for other people and they send your money via paypal payments. Paypal will still get there cut in the deal no matter what.

Will seem even more unreasonable when paypal say 'What's up, Doc' and restrict your funds.

ask yourself how much money you can afford to have 'held'..... NONE.

'Gifts' are a known workaround.

Can and do back-fire.

I had a limitation once for a gift to a Charity.

It was only once.

I understand the paypal staffer may have their hearing back now.

Avoid too many 'gift' transfers.

Have a variety of payments. This is what 'normal' sellers do.

Not to mention repeated back-and-forth of money between 2 PP accounts will cause a potential link...not good for future activities.

I see that many people have reservations about this. I mean, so do I...

It's not money back and forth. Just to me. From one person. I get many other normal payments as well.

I've been telling him to hold off sending me the money. Or at the very least, wait till there is more, so that they happen less often. I think I'm just gonna have him send a check tho.

Are you receiving sales to this same pp? Potential for danger - good to start transitioning into separate pp's.
