Hey guys. I found a 2009 thread on this but was wondering if anything maybe has changed
I have a 2 year old account that I set up in my friends name and info. So its a legit account under his name with everything including his SSN verified a couple years ago.
I make sure everything is 100% taken care of since Im using someone elses ssn, I Dont want him to have to ever worry about anything since he was nice enough to make an account for me. (including staying under the yearly limits)
HOWEVER
I got an email from paypal stating his CC that I registered Paypal with is expiring this month. Its the CC that is linked to his bank account that is also on file with PP.
Very much not comfortable asking him years later to update his CC for me so I was wondering does it even matter? can I just let is slide? All the limits were lifted when I signed up so I was wondering if leaving the cc expired (bank account is still current) even matters?
thanks

Well we don't recommend using a friend, family info including SSN but what's done is done. If you need to update the CC portion you have 2 options:
1. Buy a VCC on the forum
2. Grab a Visa/MasterCard Gift Card
MM78 is correct, of course, but your other option would be to let your friend know. I understand that it may not be the most COMFORTABLE option, but it would be the right one.
however I was wondering what happens if I dont update the CC? Just let it expire? What does that effect?
From what I gathered its only there if u mess up and Ebay needs to charge you something. I never use the account for buying or even withdrawing to bank account
OP, rsot is correct. Just use a Vanilla Visa gift card. Make sure it is a gift card and NOT a debit card which requires your correct personal info. Make sure to register the card with the same zip code that is associated with the account. It's extremely easy I just did it this week and lots of retailers are offering discounts for Christmas on the loading fee.
