ok, just bought a $25. Vanilla gift card from CVS. now I believe I have to register it before using it to set up my new Amazon account?

Yes, you register the zipcode that is associated with your stealth account.

i just registered it and it only asked for zip code. MM78, thanks for reminding me to use the zip for my stealth account!
