Re: For Canadians using Canada Post
Sorry for the delay, enjoying the holidays.
Will keep this as short as possible
Use the EST Desktop for shipping, all records are easily accessible. CP will refund the shipping charges of an 'expedited' parcel that is 'late' and within the previous 30 business days.
Go to History under navigation and hit search; all deliveries will load.
Find your starting point (say the 1st of the month) and click the 1st record. It highlights blue, then hit the 'track package' button at top.
This brings up your browser with that actual tracking info for highlighted shipment.
Click the "need the delivery standard date' to get the guarantee date of delivery. Scroll down the page to find the date OF FIRST ATTEMPT, not the actual delivery date. (could be the same if person was home).
Compare the 1st attempted date to the delivery standard date. If package was delivered later than standard date, you get your money back.
I keep a log of all lates in a word document with tracking #, expected date and actual date so that I can check them off when called into CP.
Next, call Canada Post at 1-888-550-6333 (track and trace department).
You can only report 10 lates at a time, so you may need to call back a few times.
Average is about 10% of all parcels are late, and in terms of money, around $50/hr to do this (back into your pocket).
Ask that the refund be sent by cheque to your place of business. Then you can do as you please with the cheque.
At our peak during Christmas 2012, we got just over $3500 back from CP. Truly a nice holiday bonus!
Best of luck.
