someone used my credit card on paypal!!

I shopped at target about 5 times last month when the target card hacking took place. today i see someone used my debit card to make a $25 payment on paypal! and they must have used my phone number to because a received a text alert from paypal on the payment. the funny thing is that this phone number is linked to my real info long suspended account. i canceled my card. but i am unsure whether to call paypal, as it is only $25 and maybe they will do a little research and see i have stealths somehow ...any advice?

If someone used your card without your authorization, call your bank.

i cancelled my card at the bank but i am reluctant to do a chargeback because i currently have a chargeback going on right now at the bank, someone stole ym card at the thrift store last month and used it 3 x's around town... i read chargebacks can blacklist you at bank and i currently have 4 accounts at this bank that I really need

How would paypal send you a text on an account that is suspended?

Or the phone number that is attached to the suspended account.

How could they link you to other accounts with a phone call as long as you dont use a phone that is attached to a standing good account?

Part of that target hack last month. Millions were hit.

sorry if its confusing, someone stole all my info from part of the Target hack i think...i used my card there at least 5 times during the period the hack took place. they must have gotten my number from target too. then they registered for paypal mobile with it.

and the person must have opened a new paypal using my name and numner i am thinking...guess the last laugh will be on them in that case.

and yes they could not link me to my new accounts most likely , i just hate calling paypal, always scared they could link somehow, maybe just being paranoid.

Don't be surprised if that WAS a stealth account being opened. It is entirely possible. Although the bigger possibility is that the credit card information was sold by the original hackers and the purchaser is trying to use PayPal to get cash from the credit cards.

If the credit card was used on your old PayPal account that was suspended and you can call PayPal from the suspended phone, I see no harm in calling them. If the card was used on one of your stealth accounts, then that could be a different story.
