Etsy stealth advice for setting up new ID
Etsy are notorious for kicking people out of their forums. Not just for hate speech or flaming or all the things that you would expect on a forum. But also for things that are frankly childish and trivial. For example I posted the remark "Posting on this threat can damage your health" on a thread where people were sniping at one another, and I got a weeks ban!!
When you get banned from the forums you are a non person. You cant post a problem in "bugs" (which usually gets a quick result) and you cant comment on the Etsy blog or use their new "advertise" thread.
A pretty unprofessional way for a legitimate company to behave while still charging the same fees but thats Etsy.
I got booted off the forum a few months ago but every time I create an alternate ID they seem to find it within hours. I have tried creating it on a different computer using a dongle which gives me a different IP address every time I log in. I also set up a completely new email address each time which had no connection to any other.
My nephew reckons they must be using stealth cookies which are installed on the machine and that I should delete all the "Etsy" cookies in Firefox at the beginning and end of each session.
Sorry for this rather long winded posting but would appreciate some tips from experienced members on how to create an ID I can use just for the Etsy forums. I dont need it to sell on as my legitimate selling ID is still ok.
