Default Phone calls from ebay - could come at ANY time, and more than one too

After the first time ebay calls you, when verifying you, will they ever call again? If they call again what do I do if the number was just a free trial number and is not in service anymore? Do I have to keep on paying for the number until I have that account active or do I just dump the number after verification?

Does ebay call you first when you signup for seller account or when listing 1st item?

When they call they give you a verification code and you have to put it into ebay right or am I wrong?

They called me when I opened my seller account, they just give you a code to type into ebay.

If the question is not answered at once, please consider that the forum might be busy.

Ebay has also said that you may add a cell phone number as an alternative means of contact. You may wish to think about that.

HI guys-- Ebay asks for the new phone verif--during the listing process-it takes you to a new screen--then back again..
--They ALSO call Randomly to supposedly "give you seller tips" ??
IF the number is Disconnected--you will get a temporary suspension.. (this is my own exper anyhow)

That sucks that you gotta keep the number connected. EBHL do you personally keep the number connected?

it all really depends on if you are just using the account for a short period or plan on keeping it for a long time. If you are going to end up suspended because of the items you sell I would just keep it for about a month and let it go, if you have a lot of feedback or it is an important account obviously keep the working #.

Yeah I basically figured out if I keep a good understanding with the buyers and pay ebay the fees I'll be fine and ebay won't be calling me.

10 mins later, I get a call and didn't answer b/c I didn't recognize the #.

I looked up the # and some say it's ebay calling.
some say it's a scam/fraud.

So I just received a call from 801-545-1800 (ebay). I use evoice and the call did not get forwarded to my cell phone. They left a voice mail on evoice but all they did was hang up (no voice on recording)...very interesting. I wonder if they will suspend the account...we will see.

I get random calls on selling tips often. As EBHL says if it doesn't dial through you will go down until they can make a call.
There are several ways to get the calls and not have to answer them to save your accounts.

Maybe they don't want to talk to you???

All of my newer accounts got calls, every single one of them.

Any account that is aged I never got calls.

I opened an eBay account yesterday and they called my forwarding number. I didn't answer their call and I am pretty sure it was eBay. I got a voice mail and all I could hear is them hanging up. The phone number was 1 847-620-9026.

Area code 847 is for Illinois. I don't think that eBay has any offices there, but I'm not sure.
Here's a Google search: +847 +"620-9026"
The prefix 620 shows it as being Barrington, IL.

847 is Lake County Illinois.
That is the north side of Chicago up to the WI border.
There is a call center there that does do calls for eBay and other companies.
Most of the calls I get from eBay when I am setting up a account come out of this area code.

Should I answer the phone next time they call me or it doesn't really matter as long as my number is active?

If it's the correct phone number that you put on the account, you shouldn't worry about answering it.
Just be calm and act like you're an eBay newbie. Act like you're really excited to be part of this "neat eBay experience".
