Default Anyone else get an "unauthorized 3rd party" limitation on July 20th?

Several Paypal accounts all got limited yesterday (July 20th) morning with this email:

Quote:
Dear XXXX XXXX,

As part of our security measures, we regularly screen activity in the
PayPal system. During a recent screening, we noticed an issue regarding
your account.

We have reason to believe that your account was accessed by a third party.
We have limited access to sensitive PayPal account features in case your
account has been accessed by an unauthorized third party. We understand
that having limited access can be an inconvenience, but protecting your
account is our primary concern.

Case ID Number: PP-###-###-###

For your protection, we have limited access to your account until
additional security measures can be completed. We apologize for any
inconvenience this may cause.
It would be a seriously long story to explain why, but I know for a fact this is a load of crap, and was not a legitimate "for my safety" step by Paypal. Did anyone else experience this yesterday? You can PM me if you prefer. Thanks!

Did you by chance log into all the accounts with the same IP?

Firefox only, cookies cleaned between every one, IP change between every one. SOME possibility that CCleaner was not used at some point between logins (with regard to Flash objects).

Long time user, experienced in the ways of "what we do here". BTW, some of the accounts had never bought or sold a single item.

Very meticulous, no chance of any other matching info or same ip. Ebay accounts were not affected, only Paypal. But for me, the account is ruined nonetheless.

no big deal.. just change PW and secret questions.
restored in 2 minutes

its because you used a new iP

Paypal has a policy... if you use a new IP to log in, it will limit you for unauthorized access.. 2x such, and paypal's system will remember that IP, and you wont get the limited access anymore from that IP.

so dont go changing IPs like crazy.. not for paypal anyways... if possible.

PW change, secret questions change, and CONFIRMED LOCATION (land line or postal service). I haven't seen anything about this new Paypal policy regarding IP's and logging in, any info anywhere about it? Thanks!

They don't check for IPs that closely. As long as it's in the same country you're fine. It was most likely something else.

All i can say is paypal doesn't care anything about ip addresses. I have over 10 verified paypal accounts and 3 are limited and I log in each account about twice a day. I log in into one account clear everything really quick and log in to the next over and over. I have done this for years and have never had any limitations or warnings or any sign of paypal tracking my movement. So, unless you're doing something drawing a lot of attention then you should have no problems.

Its just because your using a new ip address I just got a message that my paypal account from my suspended ebay account was limited. I haven't checked this email address in a while except to log in for a dispute from some jerk trying to scam me. But I did the whole stealth thing cleared the cookies and new ip when I logged in. So ebay as brilliant as they are they assume someone else hacked my account, then bam limit.
