Default Blocking a buyer who's currently highest bidder

Recently the past couple of times I shipped to this highest bidder's country it was a hassle (2 straight returns) and the shipping cost is extremely high. I just don't want to deal with it again.

Will adding them to my "blocked buyers/bidders" prevent them from bidding any higher on the item? I know I can cancel bids however I don't want to be that conspicuous about it if simply blocking them will prevent further bids on the item

I just read this below and I see 2 different answers so I'm a little unsure what would happen:

You know, even if you block someone, it will literally tell them, "Hey, this seller has BLOCKED YOU"...

You will have to confront them at some point. Unfortunately, there is no way to be discrete.

What? I'm positive that doesn't happen. From what I know they get a message like this -

Why did that not happen before this listing?

Go over everything and control who gets to buy from you.

Have that in place before listing to keep the upper hand.

Good Luck

To answer your specific question, you will have to cancel the bids. Even if you block the buyer current bids are active. Cancel the bids, block the buyer and use your automation to block all future countries you would like to not sell to.

Keep in mind that a user from another country that is blocked MAY have a USA address or an address in a country NOT blocked and can still place bids and have successful sales. Unique situations is Russia buyer who has an address in Belarus or Croatia, Romania, etc.. and sends to that country or uses a forwarding agent, etc... This is rare, but happens to me in my category regularly for resale buyers in Russia and Belarus(Two countries I don't ship to)

you can cancel a bid or put restrictions on like no bids from Italy or people with strikes or those with 0 feedback
