I was doing something like this with a rooted phone with virgin mobile. I was able to get 4g wimax downloads speeds, 4-10mb speeds, for over 1.5 years until Sprint upgraded their software, so no more 4g speeds after going over 2.5gb of downloaded stuff. I was sad when it was over, I was saving so much money not having an extra expense for cable high speed internet at home.
