Wow, that sucks. Did you try to contact LG to see if it's a defect?

Why not return it for something else? I sure would...

Maybe there is a setting to turn this feature off? If not return it..

I sell televisions at a local electronics store so i think I have the answer to this.
LG has a sensor on it that automatically adjusts the screen depending on weather it is in a dark or bright room. They think of this as kind of an automatic calibration whenever you turn the tv on. I never thought it would become annoying but that does sound pretty bad. Good new is you can turn it off in the menu.

Go to the menu and check out the backlight or the contrast settings. I believe its because of one or the other. This happened to me on the Samsung 40" LCD tv I bought and I corrected the problem by fixing the above settings to my liking.

Oh ok then. Modee just return the unit and buy a sony or a samsung. Those two brands are best. Plus you can use all new LCD tvs as a computer monitor.

I would say either exchange it for the same model and see if that one works better or just get a better tv

Ah modee you went with the good choice of buying a Samsung. They make superb television but only thing that kinda annyoys me on samsung LCD tvs is that long wait and that noise when turning them on.
