Default will this protect me from a chargeback?

im selling a high value item on paypal whcih total to £6000. I am not using ebay so i do not have any sellers protection with ebay. I have requested the money from my customer through the invoice, and he has paid me.

What are the best ways to protect my self from a charge-back?

My terms were that no return is accepted. I was looking to deliver it by hand and have him sign something to accept the goods and terms and conditions as postage will be costly. Would this protect me? or shall i use tracked royal mail?

...my first thought... if you plan to deliver the item by hand, I would stay away from Paypal. What about a check or bank transfer instead?

No protection with hand delivery with paypal.

You need to think very carefully about the whole deal and methods of payment.

You should have used escrow services.

Why do they want to pay via PayPal if you are hand delivering it?

Best option would be cash in hand or bank transfer.

You will have little to no protection from PayPal, and depending on how secure the PayPal account is, you run the risk of PayPal holding the money for 180 days.

Ok, i guess delivery by hand is not the option. Unfortunately bank transfer or cash in hand is not possible for this transaction.

Would a tracked delivery protect me? is it really that easy for buyers to claim a chargeback ?

If you're just interested in getting your funds, tracking with signature confirmation should meet their protection policies. However, item not as described could still apply and you could get caught up in that mess. There's always going to be that risk in case you actually KNOW this person.

For an item of that value, I wouldn't even bother with Paypal. Too damn risky to get your funds held up under a limitation or for no reason. If you have a legitimate chargeback or unauthorized transaction, you will be protected though.

I used to accept high value PP transactions from various European resellers with whom I deal. However the fees were so high I switched to bank transfer which is a normal method of payment within the EU. The fees between EU states are either free or very low and I get them to send the fee in GBP so the amount which arrives in my bank is what they sent.

Also this is a completely safe method of payment for high value transactions.

What about WU or Moneygram transfer? Ive used that for a number of transactions from countries where PP and bank transfer is not an option. You dont send the goods til you draw the cash. For me its an easy option because the WU and Moneygram agents are within few minutes walk of the post office so I can do the entire business in one trip.

Very tricky to get this person to pay through bank transfer, due to trust i guess.

There's 5999 better reasons for YOU to have the trust

If you say he has paid by invoice already, why ask NOW what to do?

Seems strange.

Paypal payment.... Cash on delivery, oh deary dear me.

Op you are likey to get scammed to the tune of 6k.

Please read paypals guidelines, you are never truly covered 100%. If you decide to deliver via courier, make sure it is the full works and insured for its real value.

Just remember that even though you have tracking a case can be opened for item not as described or a CC charge back can be issues. Down to you to decide if it is worth the risk

Just remember, through Paypal the buyer can file the dreaded "Unauthorized transaction" which (for me) has ALWAYS resulted in the buyer getting their money back. For transaction this big, I'd stay clear of Paypal, but that's just me.

Since you are NOT using eB OP...avoid using PP - arrange for other methods of payment.
