Default Banks in Australia

Gosh i'm screwed. I had just opened 1 main account and 9 sub accounts with suncorp bank. I just got a call today saying that the names on my paypals dont match my bank accounts. So they have suspended me :-(

Do banks check this? Has anyone had this problem before? Is there any other way to link paypal ? please help me.

Suncorp has been hostile to user with that set up. They have been nasty as they have just been to you.

Overall the other OZ banks do not behave like that. Specially what were you doing? Like are these new accounts & you were attaching the bank account to complete verifiaction?

Have a suggestion (or three)

Not surprising Suncorp being careful after that guy got caught ripping off ebay/paypal using Suncorp accounts. One of the banks I use say on their site that when you transfer money through internet banking account names are not used.

Also looking to open a new Aussie bank account with a bank that does not require names to match to allow withdrawals from paypal.

Anyone got any suggestions on which is the best? I was thinking ANZ or Commonwealth bank. Your help would be much appreciated.

CBA is still very good to use.

ANZ is fine.

BankWest is fine as well.

Dont forget to go slowly when you open up accounts.

Be careful about the changes to credit reporting in Australia as well

ANZ is my favourite. You can have practically as many 'Online saver accounts' as you wish. Just say your saving for different goals etc.

HSBC is safe too, but internet banking portal is rubbish.
Citibank is also ok.

I use Australia Post Load and Go cards. This method is less traceable and less problematic than using a bank account. The only downside is the transaction limits on these cards.

If you absolutely must use a bank, I recommend Commonwealth Bank or ANZ. Bank West is also good because it is a Commonwealth Bank subsidiary.

ANZ was a recent trial of mine on a trip down under - has been working well for stealth ops down there
