Ok so sent something out by Priority.
buyer never received shows tracking number but no movement,

However it has a Stealth addy on the return!

Question is do i just write it up as a lesson learned or do i try to file the USPS insurance claim on it.

LOL i know i know, but just wondering if any one has tried this using a stealth. THanks for any and all info

Forgot to add. its a 85.00 dollar item too

Bummer, hope it was not expensive. For a while now I am pasting a correct return address over the stealth so I don't have to worry about returns. Can buy the labels in Office Depot and can DL the proper matrix so it can be printed.

I agree. Get some kinda mail box or something with a biz name. Just black out the stealth addy and put yours on there. Had to many buyers put in the wrong address etc. To lose and item over something stupid like that.

If you would like to try to get the parcel returned, contact the postal service to fill out a form to have it redirected back to you. It costs a few bucks but for 85 dollars, its worth it.

In the future, have access to the addresses or at least include a return label in the package should something happen

Would be interesting to have a thread on this. I have heard some people on the board saying they would not risk it. I do not think USPS would contact eBay. But if they have an electronic record of the name and address of the person sending the item. It is a slippery slope. Especially with the Postal Service. Because it is a quazi Federal Agency. Trying to file a claim could get tricky. You don't want the post master calling you about mail fraud or something like that. Because you have person that is not the shipper of record filing the claim.

Personally I ship on the stealth accounts where I print the labels using eBay/PP. Now that this is brought up, if I sell anything more expensive I am probably going to use actual USPS website. I know some members on here really like stamps.com I think there is a monthly fee for that service.

No they wouldnt get involved

EB and PP have nothing to do with that.
And many businesses have multiple addresses.

They (pp / eb) would see in the tracking where the package got returned too, but the postal service would not contact them as you have all of the info.

I had to do it when a package came right to a buyers door and it was recalled to my home address 3 apts down.

I know my postal carrier so he just put it on my doorstep. If you're that worried, have it sent to another address that you have access too.

Good luck

I'm using someone I know, and that I've got permission from, to use their info on my eBay Stealth right now. I have a gift card for my CC on PP, and I also have my bank acct info on PP as well. I just got verified too!

My main question is if I put my address as a return label over the stealth address, and the buyer wants to return the product, will they get suspicious if they see that the address on Ebay/Paypal and the one on the package isn't the same?? Or should I place a note inside the package stating that if they decide to return the package to send it to my address??

It is against the law to use a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ return address, depending on the post office, you could get a visit from the postal inspectors. Especially if its a common practice.

In addition, although some larger post offices don't care, many smaller ones want to make sure you use the correct Zip code, so their post office gets credit for handling your mail. One package probably wont matter but I wouldn't call attention to it, if you are using a fictional return address.

Not too long ago i actually did something to solve this.
HAND WRITTEN return address and taped it over
the labels return address..

No big deal
Especially when what you are shipping are electronics
and expensive products

No big deal..
But i am thinking about changing my return address
to make ACTUAL address...
which is linked to an account that is banned from selling.

I am starting to think though that it does not matter.
I don't think this will link you.
Don't try it YET.. but just saying

If you have multiple stealth accounts. I would just go get a PO Box or a UPS box register it under a BIZ name. Then use the Biz name and addy to tape over the stealth's for your return address. If anyone asks just say they handle my shipping etc, it is a secure place.

I guess if you are a small seller who it isn't the end of the world you might be able to get away with that. Nobody on here would advise it. If you are serious stealther I would go the mail box route.

Yes you are right very professional. Hand writing a return addy is not though and I just wouldn't do it. That's the cool thing here. One can get all the info they want and then do as they see fit.

I use Stamps.com to print my postage and then upload the tracking number via Auctiva. I pay approximately $15.00/month for Stamps.com. I used Stamps.com with my old, non-stealth account so I've had an account with them for years. Personally, I don't like the idea of using eB/PP to print postage. I use our home address as the from/return address on all packages no matter which stealth account was used to sell the item. I want packages returned to my home instead of my stealth addresses as I don't have access to any of those addresses. My DH has his own eB/PP accounts for purchasing only (using our home Static IP) and we have never once looked at the return address on the packages he receives and compared it to the address given on eB or PP for the seller.

i use a mail forwarding for my returns like myus.com.

its very convenient and if the name for instance is will smith then my ebay will be that name. i will purchase a myus for 9.99 fer month or 59.99 for 6 months and then he has a address which at that point it gets sent to the myus which lets you know then you pay a fee for them to ship it to you .

.the thing is wherever you are in the world they will drop it off regardless of name really secure from my experience so far

Risk is these companies are known to ebay.

Might not be such a wise idea if you are trying to look 'real'

It has been few month since this subject was discussed,
but since I am in a situation of having to choose
between my home address to a mail box address, I was
wondering if it wouldn't risk one or more of your accounts
in case a buyer calls ebay and tell them he received his
item from an address that is different from the one stated on
the seller's account, then if the rep check this address it
will be shown as linked to a suspended account.
I know this scenario is unlikely, but i am curious if it ever
happened to anyone.

I do not understand going to all the time and care setting up a viable stealth account and not renting a mailing box/ address for these instances. They are inexpensive enough---UPS is about $20 per month---and would provide peace of mind in situations like this.

Personally, I wouldn't chance it. Just my two cents--

You can always change your ebay address to your new updated rented box address. Nothing wrong or risky with an address change, especially a legit address--

Perception of doing stealth correctly is misnunderstood.

I often say stealth accounts are ebay accounts too. Only difference is they are stealth so need that little bit extra to be viable.

Yes, I do that. My comment was regarding the use of return address
label that is being used by many in the forum that have multiple accounts.
I would think that using a label with your original address (the suspended one)
as a return address is risky.
