I HAVE A FRIEND WHO HAS 50K IN IRELAND AND WOULD HE LOSE A LOT SENDING IT TO THE UK BANK AND THEREFORE CHANGING IT FROM euro's TO POUNDS?

The amount he will loose will depend on the method of transfer.

Transferwise has been running adverts recently and see to offer a very good rate v banks

Another option is going via a FX broker but for 50k your not going to get the really low %.

If your friend has that amount of money, he would seek the best transfer fees to move it between countries.

He would not really come to a forum and ask for international banking advice.

There is likely quite a bit lost due to exchange rate (even though the rate will be good at that amount) and fees.

50k is quite a lot of cheese - maybe tell your friend to distribute amongst members here

Perhaps best to get a financial consultant from a bank then....

At 50k, you need to maximize the exchange rate...
