IRS that your 1099K did not match IRS records

This is my real account with my real name. The business name hasn't been in use in awhile, but the IRS info still goes to my real name. I got a call, and email, saying

We have received notification from the IRS that the business name and tax ID on your Form 1099-K does not match the IRS records.


Please review your tax ID number and the Business Name on your PayPal account to ensure they match the information you use for filing your taxes and make any necessary changes to avoid potential interruption of your PayPal services.

I don't recall putting in a tax ID number, so I'm not sure. I'm guessing they mean my SS which obviously wouldn't match my business name. I changed my business name to my actual name.

Worried about calling them in case they ask questions I can't answer.

Try anything you can and see if things will be better. If nothing helps, you would need to call. I don't like to call in such situation too. I would do anything else before calling.

If it is your real account and real name, what sort of things could they ask you that you can not answer? Mothers maiden name, last address, Registered vehicles?

They can inquire about my business and business name abs why the IRS info wasn't right. It's Paypal/ebay. You guys know how they can be. I do about $5500 a month through it.

Were you doing anything to get this info?


Go to the IRS site,Check what exactly is on their records.

Make sure you write down that info.

Compare that to paypal info.

I guess your real name is banned
