Default How early to see you have 0/$0 selling limits?

Hi,

I set up my 7th stealth account a couple of months ago. Everything was going fine just like all my other accounts.

Logged back in to sell a couple of items to get the account active.

I tried to list my first item and saw that I had the dreaded 0/$0 limits. I had already bought a tracfone with card, VCC, and set up a bank account with the minimum. ( I say "stealth" because it uses a mispelling my my real name and would work with my bank).

So I have about $350 tied up just to find out I can't use the account.

Here is the question: What is the best way to check your selling limits before spending a bunch of money for a worthless account?

I looked at my other new accounts and can't find anything on limits until I try to sell something. To get to the screen showing my limits I think I have to have a bunch of money already spent on the EB/PP setups.

I made around 10 accounts this past month too.. ALL 0/0. This week I made sure the address was 100% legit and name matched (phonebook/white pages). You can change it later so its not that bad. All accounts got a MC999 restriction. Basically just answer all the basic MC999 new item questions and have to have a paypal account verified and linked and your good to go!

A lot of accounts are getting MC999's ...just keep trying

I am not quite following you. So you made 10 accounts complete with phones, VCC and bank accounts? It will be tough to get names matching with addresses unless it is your own since the bank account name must be close.

Oh, and how can you tell the 0/0 limits without going through all the account setups? Is it possible?

Use a bank that does not care about miss matched names....Go get a new bank if need be. Bank Of America, Chase and TD are all good for stealth accounts for example.

Use a VBA instead of killing a checking account. Only add a real bank account when needed after sales and ready for withdrawals.

You can not tell your limits until you list your first item.
Thank you.

Why is it costing you $300+ to open a new ebay account?

You can buy them from this platform for less than $100.00 all set and ready to go(if you are careful and diligent anyways)

Yea but if you use a bank account first ..thats silly just use VBA then bank account. Or you'll find your wasting bank accounts. I use US bank, and have used Bank Of America but with all the monthly fees I had to close them.

You shouldn't need to buy account with 10/1000 just make one.. 100/5000 is more tricky

I put $300 into a new bank account to meet the no-fee minimum. I have to keep it open for 3 months or eat a $20 closure fee.

So it is not "spent" so much as "tied up".

You don't actually have to list an item to find out an account's selling limits. You just need to create (or turn it into) a seller account first. Check the ebay help pages (yes they actually are helpful at times) for instructions on how to do that.

I would also suggest taking a look at a new bank. Many don't have balance requirements (or if they do, the minimum fee is much lower than the $300 you have tied up) and do not have any account closure fees. Not to mention you'll be able to use a completely made up name. Look into the big banks.
