Default Couple of questions about 21-day holds

I looked in the previous posts on this topic and couldn't find direct answers to these questions... First, when do the 21-day holds show up in your PayPal account? Are they instantaneous, as if computer-generated, or can it take a few days (so you're more likely to have shipped the item anyway)? Second, what is a "normal" percentage of a sellers' items that will be placed under a hold at one time? For example, if I have 20 auctions that end on the same day on a 10-15 all-positive feedback account, ranging from $10 to $20 which buyers send PayPal for right away, might all 20 transactions get a hold placed? Or just a few of the more expensive/"risky" ones? Thanks for any info from experience!

There is no rhyme or reason to the limits.
There are no percentages involved.

While it's appreciated that you said you searched previous threads, it would have been best if this question was posted in one of those previous threads.

Thanks for the answers so far, but let me rephrase a bit: From actual experience, when does Paypal issue notice that there has been a hold placed? How many holds out of how many total payments have you had or heard of a seller having at one time?

Each and every paypal account has a different reason. Very hard to give statistics. From my own experiences I have not had any limitations.

I had accounts where every item i sold got the hold till i got around it also once u start getting feedback the holds go away i got account with +2 and only got 2 holds out of probly 50 sales. But what every u do when u get a hold and if its a high $ item do not send it cause if ebay/paypal decieds to limt you they money gose back to the buyer as well as the free item u just paid to send them. And paypal gives u a big 1 finger salute. Way payemeny works is screw the sellers as long as they and there buyers are not out any cash they dont care what happens to a seller as there expandable.
