Default what 'AVERAGE' ebay item number sold do you get asked for ssn?

I know the answer is 200/20,000 before your forced to put ssn, file tax doc etc. on paypal.

my question is a preventative measure to avoid this.

what average EBAY items SOLD number do you allow to be sold before temp shutting down the EBAY account til the next year?

have accounts reaching over 100 now and trying to be safe.

I know there is no exact answer for this but what are safe averages?

thanks in advance.

ALSO WHAT NUMBERS HAVE YOU REACHED THAT TRIGGER THE PP SSN REQUIRED POP UP THANX

You can just put an EIN on.

PayPal will often use projected sales.

If you sell 40 in one months it will likely trigger the request. If you sell 40 items over 3 months it should not trigger it.

Using multiple accounts is the answer. As near as I can figure out, they are using an algorithm that takes into account your average monthly sales, but also looks for any spikes, suggesting the POSSIBILITY that you will go over the limits. So, having consistent sales that fall far short of the limit is the only way to avoid this successfully. You cannot get to $19,000 in sales before they will ask for a taxpayer ID.

Close to 200 - guess average sale per item isn't too high...?

I usually get it between 150-175 if the amounts are not too close.

If the account is going well and you have confidence it will last a year or ten then I personally would file an EIN and let the account grow while also creating other accounts too.

if the dollar amount is kept low enough and I spread the sales somewhat, then I will get a request for SSN around 150 sales. However, if the avg dollar amount per sale is much higher, then I can get a request well before I hit this 150 mark. It's all about projected sales and projected dollar amounts.

If I decide not to go the SSN/EIN route with an account that gets the request, I sell like crazy until my paypal account gets limited. Might as well.
